• Security token offering (STO) is a fund raising tool
similar to an ICO, but with certain regulations that
hold the token issuers accountable for their
actions.

• STOs were created to be a secure version of ICOs


that are compliant with all laws and regulations.

• These tokens have more regulatory controls/


restriction

• They give holder opportunity to invest, to vote and


decision making power

• Due to regulations, launching these tokens is time


consumable
Different Cryptocurrencies: Altcoins
• The cryptocurrencies modeled after Bitcoin are collectively called altcoins,
• Litecoin (LTC)
– Was launched in 2011 as an alternative to Bitcoin.
– Differences between these digital currencies:
• Litecoin is believed to feature faster transaction times.
• The coin limit for Bitcoin is 21 million and Litecoin is 84 million.
• They operate on different algorithms, Litecoin’s being “scrypt” and Bitcoin’s is “SHA-256.”
• Bitcoin Cash (BCH)
– was created to improve certain features of Bitcoin. Bitcoin Cash increased the size of
blocks, allowing more transactions to be processed faster.
• Ethereum Classic (ETC)
– Ethereum Classic is a version of the Ethereum blockchain. Here “classic ether,” is used
to pay users for products or services.
Different Cryptocurrencies: Altcoins
• Zcash (ZEC)
– was built on the original Bitcoin code base.
– A core feature of Zcash is an emphasis on privacy.
– Users can send and receive Zcash without disclosing the sender, receiver, or the amount
transacted.
• Stellar Lumen (XLM)
– Created in 2014, Stellar lumen is an intermediary currency that facilitates currency
exchange. Stellar allows a user to send any currency they own to someone else in a
different currency.
– It has its own network
• Bitcoin Satoshi’s Vision (BSV)
– Has same purpose like Bitcoin Cash, using cryptocurrency as payments.

• Polkadot
– Polkadot is a blockchain platform and cryptocurrency. The native cryptocurrency for the
Polkadot blockchain is the DOT
– It is a protocol is designed to connect permissioned and permissionless blockchains
• XRP
– XRP is a native token of Ripple blockchain
– It is more cost-effective, has faster transaction time, is greener, and is more scalable than
bitcoin.
• Solana (SOL)
– Solana is a blockchain platform designed to host decentralized applications. Using a
proof-of-history consensus mechanism

• Dogecoin (DOGE)
– It is a peer-to-peer, open-source cryptocurrency. It is considered an altcoin and was
launched in December 2013 with the image of a Shiba Inu dog as its logo.
• Cardano (ADA)
– Cardano is a public blockchain platform. It is open-source and decentralized, with
consensus achieved using proof of stake. It can facilitate peer-to-peer transactions with
its internal cryptocurrency, ADA
