MATH REVIEWER — 4TH MONTHLY EXAM

The document explains the formulas for calculating the perimeter of various shapes, including rectangles, equilateral triangles, squares, and regular pentagons. It also covers the circumference of circles using both diameter and radius. Examples are provided for each formula to illustrate the calculations.

Perimiter :

The sum of lengths of a polygram/Total measure of sides

Perimeter of a Rectangle

FORMULA :

P = 2 (L + W)

● Length × 2
● Width × 2
● Length + Width

Example :

P = 2 (7in) + 2(3in)
= 14in + 6in
= 20in

● 7 × 2 = 14
● 3 × 2 = 6
● 14 + 6 = 20

Perimeter of Equilateral
FORMULA :

P = 3 (Given)

● Given × 3

Example :

P = 3 (5cm)
= 15cm

● 5 × 3 = 15

— In regular polygons, since the sides are equal you are only given one given measurement.
You only need to multiply the given measurement to the number of sides of the polygon.

— Square and Regular Pentagon require the same formula, the only differences are the sides.
Square has 4 sides, so you multiply the given measurement to four.
● 4 × Given Measurement

Regular Pentagons have 5 sides, again you only need to multiply the given to number five.
● 5 × Given Measurement
Circumference :

Diameter

FORMULA :

— C = πd

Example :

C = πd
= (3.14) (10cm)
= 31.4m

● π = 3.14
● 3.14 x 10 = 31.4
Radius

FORMULA :

— C = 2πr

Example :

C = 2πr
= 2 (3.14) (5in)
= (10in) (3.14)
= 31.4in

● 2 × 5 = 10
● 10 × 3.14 = 31.4
