1.1 Introduction
I have completed my training in Bhavani medical store which is located at Gajanand Niwas,
Bhavaniwad, Haripura, Suart. Kalpeshbhai Patel is an owner of Bhavani medical store. It is retail
medical store. Medical store opened from 9 am to 10 pm. All requirements which are important for
medical store that all requirement are fulfilled in Bhavani medical store.

2. Summary of training session

• Introduction about the drug store regarding the years they have been in the
field.
• Details about the owner and their facilities that they gave the years.
• In the first week of practice in drug store, I saw the arrangements of medicines
that stored accordingly to generic or brand name in 'Alphabetic order'.
• Suppositories and injection are kept in refrigerator discussion with the other
pharmacists present about basic requirement and point to be noted while
Week 1 presenting the drug store.

⚬ OTC drugs are kept in separate drawer
• I also observed freeze storing medicines, injection (2C0-8C0) and room
temperature storing medicines (17C0-25C0).
2. Summary of training session

• Knowledge about storage conditions of various drugs (containers, temperature


and packaging)
• I observed some different types of medicines with their brand name, Content,
Strength, Mfg .By, Exp date,Rate of the product, Caution, usage .etc.
Week 2 • I also observe din which symptoms or disease that medicines are given.
• I learn how to read and understand the prescription.
• I also observed some patient prescriptions and their details.
• Methods to eliminate errors in prescription. (by consulting with the doctor or
medical personnel available at the time.
2. Summary of training session

• Solving error in the prescription and consulting patient regarding the drug for
betterment of the patient.
• Knowledge about fire precautions and the pest control.
• I also observed the isolated medicine like high-risk medicines, narcotic
medicine arrangements area for these medicines.
Week 3 • I also found out different doses from like tablet, capsule, injection, lotion,
cream, gel, face wash, mouthwash etc.
• Discussing problems and symptoms regarding disease with the patient
Learning about Patient counseling.
• Explaining the patient about rout of administration and the time for the drug to
be taken.
2. Summary of training session

• Removal of drugs with expired date by the method first-in and first-out.
• Checking stock availability in the computer.
• Learning about billing details in the computer.
Week 4 • Handling patients at the drug store and providing adequate information related
to the patient's conditions.
• Arranging the drug form the newly arrived stock.
• Keeping track and therapeutic effect details about in patients.

• Awareness about OTC to the patient and restricting patients to take self-
medication.
Week 5 • Regular inspection of the drug store to avoid errors when senior inspector
visits the drug store.
• Etiquettes to be followed while attending both in-patients and out-patients.

4.Learning Process During Training

4.1 Facilities/equipment

4.2 Drug Storage

Storage is an important aspect of the total drug control system. Proper environmental control (i.e.,
proper temperature, light, and humidity, conditions of sanitation, ventilation, and segregation)
must be maintained wherever drugs and supplies are stored in the premises.
4.Learning Process During Training

➢ Storage of Tablet
• Store in a cool, protected from light and moisture.
• Store in a cool and dark place, protected from light and moisture.
• Keep in dry places.

➢ Storage of Capsule
• A capsule is a very sensitive product and it must be protected against excessive heat and
humidity.
• For storage we recommend temperature between15 to 25 C and a relative humidity between
35 and 65%. Do not leave open inner bags in non air conditioned areas.

➢ Storage of Emulsion
• Store emulsion in vertical tanks.
• For long-term storage. Store at a temperature between 500F and 180 0F. Don't let the emulsion
freeze.

➢ Storage of Suspension
• Suspension should be stored in a cool place but not be kept in a refrigerator.
• Store in cool and dry place, protect from heat and light.
• Store in a cool and dark place, protect from direct sun light.
• Keep in dry place at a temperature not exceeding30 oC, keep the bottle tightly closed.
• Store below 25 C, protected from moisture.

➢ Storage of Oral Drop


• Oral Drop at Store the room temperature.
• Keep it away from light and moisture children and pets.

➢ Storage of Injection
• Store below 25-300C

4.3 Purchasing of Products


• Definition of Purchasing: - "Purchasing is the procuring of materials, supplies, machine tool
sand services required.”
• Physical counting of all the drugs that are in demand was done. And looking at present day.
• Stock availability of drugs was every day counted.
• Billing period was important for purchasing and paying for the stock.
• Precisions are mainly influenced by delivery, supplier restrictions and pricing discounts.

4.4 Prescription Handling


• Communication with the patient is the most necessary thing as well as making an eye contact
with the patient plays the major role.
• To check the date and prescription details and consulting the patient regarding the Symptoms
• The compounding and labelling details should be mentioned appropriately

4.5 Patient Counseling


• The patient should be thoroughly informed about the medications that are given to them.
• It should also be taken into consideration that no on-going medications are taken by the
patient to avoid drug-drug interaction.
• The patient is not allergic to the prescribed drug and it should be checked in the conversation
with patient.
• All the questions of patient should be answered in a humble and informative way.
• Pricing details should be explained to the patient mentioning about all the discounts or Taxes
that are included in the billing.

• Removing of Drug from the package
• Administering the Drug- The pharmacist should clearly mention to the patient, how and by
which route the medicine has to be administered.
• Ophthalmic preparations
• Timing of the dose
