b. Activity

Today, we’re going to play a fun

guessing game! I have a story
to share, and we have some
special characters: Kian, Andrei,
Daniela, Dax, Antonette, and
Marie. Each of them has
money, and your job is to guess
whether their payment will be
accepted or not based on what
type of money they have.
Ready? Let’s begin!

● Kian and Andrei’s

Eggplant

Kian wants eggplant for

20 pesos and has a 20
peso coin. Andrei has 20
peso bill.

Now, after seeing both

bills, what do you think?
Which bill will Aling Abby
accept?

● Daniela and Dax’s Apple

Daniela wants apple for

50 pesos and has an old
50 peso bill. Dax has a
50 peso bill that looks
different.

Now, after seeing both The old bills usually look faded, torn, or

bills, what do you think?
Which bill will Aling Abby
accept?

Very good, class! We’ll hear

more stories if you can tell
which bills are old and which
are new?

Very good, class!

c. Presentation of the Lesson

Because you’re so good at

guessing, we will hear another
story! Now, I am going to tell
you a short story. Sit properly,
keep your eyes on me, and
listen carefully.

Are you ready?

Dax’s Tomato

One day, Dax's mother asked

him to go to the market to buy a
tomato.
A kamatis!
Tomatoes – ₱5

He picked out a ₱1 coin and It cost ₱5.

handed it to the vendor.

The vendor laughed, "Dax, this He gave only ₱1, but it wasn’t enough.
isn’t enough!" Then he gave ₱100, which was too
much!
Dax scratched his head and
grabbed a ₱100 bill instead. Because ₱1 is not enough to buy a
tomato!
The vendor’s eyes widened,
"Are you buying ALL the
tomatoes?!" To check his money and pay the right
amount!
Dax laughed and said, "I guess
I need to recognize and
compare my money better!"

From that day on, Dax always

checked his coins and bills
before buying!

To test if you listened…

1. What was Dax trying to buy?

2. How much did the tomatoes

cost?

3. What mistake did Dax make

when paying?

4. Why did the storekeeper

laugh when Dax gave ₱1?

5. What lesson did Dax learn at

the end of the story?

Very good, class! Just like Dax,

we need to recognize and
compare money so we can pay
the correct amount.

D. Lesson Proper

So that we don't end up like

Dax, let’s take a closer look at
our coins and bills!
