Introduction
ۡؤ ُه ٰثۡنُا َا َك
َو َم ۡن َّيۡع َم ۡل ِمَن الّٰص ِلٰح ِت ِمۡن َذ ۡو ى َو َو ُم ِمٌن
َل ۡظ ٍرَل َة َّن ۡل ُل ٰٓل ُاَف
ًر ۡي َن َن ُمۡو ُي َو َج َن ۡو ُخ ۡدَي َك
ِق ا ا ا ـ و ِئ
But he who performs good deeds, whether man or a woman,
and is a believer, will surely enter Paradise, and none shall be
deprived even of an iota of his reward.
Role of Women in
Different Religions
Judaisam
- Eve's actions in the Garden of Eden led to the curse (Bereshit Rabbah 20:11)
- Women's menstrual cycles are a result of the curse (Talmud, Eruvin 100b)
- Women's role in society is limited due to the curse (Talmud, Kiddushin 41a)

Christianity
1. Eve's role in the Fall (Genesis 3): Eve's disobedience led to sin entering the world,
and some interpretations hold her responsible for the curse.
2. "The woman you put here with me" (Genesis 3:12): Adam's statement has been used
to shift blame from himself to Eve.
3. "The mother of all living" (Genesis 3:20): This title for Eve has been used to imply
that she is the source of sin and suffering.
Pandora Box
Pandora's box is an artifact in Greek mythology
connected with the myth of Pandora in Hesiod's c. 700
B.C. poem Works and Days.
Hesiod related that curiosity led her to open a container
left in the care of her husband, thus releasing curses
upon mankind
Women Empowerment
in Islam
Empowering women involves encouraging their self-
esteem, fostering autonomy in decision making and
recognising their fundamental right to impact social
progress for themselves and their communities.
Matriarchy
- A social system where women hold primary power and authority
- Women lead in decision-making, leadership, and cultural transmission
- Property and social status may pass through maternal line
- Examples: Mosuo, Minangkabau, Iroquois Confederacy
Patriarchy
- A social system where men hold primary power and authority
- Men dominate leadership, resources, and decision-making
- Women's roles and opportunities may be limited or restricted
- Examples: Ancient Greece/Rome, traditional religious communities, modern
societies with gender inequality

forgotten, left to fend for themselves in their own
homes without sufficient resources or assistance.
