Scene 2: West African Trade – Gold and Salt Exchange

(A desert setting with traders in colorful robes and camels resting nearby. The air
is warm, and traders fan themselves.)

Narrator: Long ago, in West Africa, people traded gold and salt. Salt was very
valuable because it kept food from spoiling.

Trader 1 (holding a small bag of gold): Hello. This is your gold for this month.

Trader 2 (lifting a large basket of salt): Thank you! I have brought plenty of salt
from the Sahara Desert. This one’s yours.

Trader 3 (Zavi):

 Observes Trader 1 and Trader 2.

 Together with Trader 1, picks up a small bag of gold give to Trader 2.

 Trader 1 gives a basket of salt in exchange.

 Trader 3 smiles, takes the salt from Trader 1.

Concluder 1 (stepping forward with Concluder 2): So, as you can see, salt was
so important and valuable back then!

Concluder 2 (pointing at camels): And look! People in West Africa used camels
to travel instead of cars!

(Traders continue exchanging goods as the scene fades.)
