(e) Each question in section D (Q. No. 9-10) carries 5 Marks.
(f) The case study question in section E (Q. No. 11) carries 4 Marks.

SECTION – A (1 Mark Each)

1. The zeroes of the polynomial x2 – 3x – m(m + 3) are
(a) m, m + 3 (b) –m, m + 3 (c) m, –(m + 3) (d) –m, –(m + 3)
2. The value of λ for which (x + 4x + λ) is a perfect square, is
2

(a) 16 (b) 9 (c) 1 (d) 4

3. Given below are two statements: one is labelled as Assertion (A) and other is
labelled as Reason (R).
Assertion (A) : If the graph of a polynomial touches x-axis at only one point, then
the polynomial cannot be a quadratic polynomial.
Reason (R) : A polynomial of degree n(n > 1) can have at most n zeroes.
In the light of the above statements, choose the most appropriate answer from the
options given below
(a) Both A and R are correct and R is the correct explanation of A
(b) Both A and R are correct but R is NOT the correct explanation of A
(c) A is correct but R is not correct
(d) A is not correct but R is correct

SECTION – B (2 Marks Each)

4. If one of the zeroes of the quadratic polynomial f(x) = 4x2 – 8kx – 9 is equal in
magnitude but opposite in sign of the other, find the value of k.
