The Additional Commissioner for Transport in Bangalore Urban
Division and the Joint Commissioners for Transport at other Divisions supervise and guide the DCT & Senior RTOs and ARTOs working in their jurisdictions. These officers frequently conduct cursory and surprise inspections of their subordinate offices. Further, these officers also function as Appellate Authorities under the Right to Information Act, in respect of Driving licences, conductor licences, registration of vehicles, renewal of registration certificates of Non-Transport Vehicles, renewal, suspension and cancellation of Fitness certificates of Transport Vehicles and Tax matters.
