Release Summary
Jeppesen FliteDeck Pro is continuously modified to be fully compatible with the Windows 8.1 operating
system.
Hardware Supported
Jeppesen FliteDeck Pro is supported on the Windows Surface 2 tablet.
Jeppesen has tested FliteDeck Pro 8.1 for compatibility with the following Windows 8.1 devices:
• Microsoft Surface 2 tablet
NOTE Jeppesen has not tested FliteDeckFliteDeck Pro for compatibility with devices
that are not manufactured by Microsoft.
Connectivity Considerations
FliteDeck Pro requires a reliable Wi-Fi or cellular internet connection to download data updates and to
activate the application. The time necessary to download and install initial data and subsequent
updates depends on the speed of the internet connection and the size of your data coverage area.
To determine aircraft position (for moving map and ownship functions), the Windows device must be
paired with a third-party GPS receiver. If the GPS receiver is Bluetooth-enabled, it must support the
RFCOMM serial service, which is necessary to provide NMEA data.
The following table describes changes that directly enhance the user experience:
Enhancement Description
Easier access to brightness adjustment Users can now tap a button on the toolbar to
access the device’s settings menu, which
includes a brightness slider.
Day/Night Theme Users can now alternate between day theme and
night theme by tapping the Brightness button to
reveal the Night Theme switch. By default the
app appears in Day theme.
Ownship Symbol on Enroute Map If the device is paired with a GPS receiver and
the Enable Moving Map option is set to On, an
ownship symbol (sometimes referred to as a
“spotter”) appears on the map. The ownship
symbol corresponds the aircraft’s position on the
map.
Present Position With Ownship displayed, users can now tap the
Present Position button to recenter the map
underneath the Ownship symbol if the map has
been panned.
Enhancement Description
Ownship Symbol on Airport Diagram If the device is paired with a GPS receiver and
the Display Ownship on Airport Diagram option is
set to On, an ownship symbol appears on the
airport diagram. The ownship symbol
corresponds the aircraft’s position on the airport
diagram.
Show Taxi Diagram on Landing Users can now specify whether the app displays
the taxi diagram when the aircraft lands. If users
enable the option, they also specify the speed
(from 30 to 80 knots) at which the aircraft
switches from the Enroute view to the taxi
diagram.
Double-Tap to Zoom Out Users can double-tap one finger to zoom out to
the full extent of the route (in Enroute view) or to
the full extent of the chart (in Terminal Charts
view).
One- and Two-Finger Swipe Users can use one- and two-finger swipes to
perform different tasks:
• Use a one-finger swipe to pan the enroute
map and terminal charts. Users also use one
finger to scroll through the chart clip when the
number of charts extends beyond the edge of
the screen.
• Use a two-finger swipe to flip through the
selected terminal charts and change which
chart appears. Depending on zoom level,
users might need to pan to the edge of the
chart to swipe to the next chart.
NOTE If the device does not have a sideload key associated with it, Jeppesen
recommends that you acquire a Microsoft developer license. As of March
2014, individual licenses are free of charge and are valid for 30 days. You can
renew licenses at no charge.
FliteDeck Pro is available as a sideload package, and is distributed as either a folder or a .zip file.

4. Tap Update.
The update process can take several minutes. The amount of time necessary to download and
perform an update depends on the speed of the internet connection and the size of the
coverage area. You cannot cancel or pause the update process.
5. When the update process is complete, tap Close.
Escalation Guidelines
If you are unable to resolve an issue by using the resources in this guide, you can escalate the issue to
Jeppesen Technical Support, as described in Chapter 1.
Gather as much of the following information as you can. By providing this information, you help to
ensure a rapid resolution.
First, determine whether the issue is reproducible on a test device. If so, provide Technical Support
with the following information:
• Recipient name.
• Complete description of the issue, including a detailed workflow that led up to the issue. If
possible, include screen captures or video (or both) of the issue.
• Error codes, if any.
• Detailed description of the device, including device settings. For example, determine the
following:
- Sleep Mode setting
- Display Lock setting
- Enroute View settings, including moving map and ownship
- Terminal Charts View settings, including ownship
- Application version number and build number
• Type of network—such as Wi-Fi or cellular:
- If Wi-Fi, describe the location from which the network is accessing data—for example,
hotel, FBO, or home.
- If cellular, specify whether 3G or 4G.
• Type of third-party GPS receiver
Troubleshooting Procedures
This section provides detailed instructions for resolving the issues that appear in the Quick Resolution
