INTRODUCTION TO LEGAL THEORIES (LAW 034)

WRITTEN ASSIGNMENT

INSTRUCTION FOR ASSIGNMENT:

1. You must form a group of a maximum of four (4) members per group.
2. Each group must choose a different topic for their assignment.
3. 10% of marks will be allocated for the written assignment.
4. The content of your assignment must be:
a. Frontpage:
i. Title of Assignment
ii. Name of students
iii. Name of lecturer
iv. Group/Class
b. Spacing 1.5 and Arial 12.
c. The length of the paper should not be more than 10 pages.
d. Conclusion
e. References
5. Please include the page number centred at the bottom of each page of your
paper. Exclude the cover sheet from page numbering.
6. Submission Deadline: By Week 12, 11 April 2025, at 5:00 PM. A link will be
shared with the students later. Only one representative from each group needs
to submit the assignment

1. Other forms of regulatory modes have some influence on law. To what extent do
customs and rules of etiquette influence the law and what are the differences
between them and the law?

2. Society has a high hope that the judiciary will uphold their cause of justice
whether legal, equitable, distributive, corrective, social, political, non-political,
natural or conventional justice. However, as an institution, the judiciary has its
weaknesses and is far from perfect.

From the above statement, discuss the obstacles in achieving justice in society.
