Greetings del

From the prior permission of the eb the delegate of united kingdom wud like to begin their speech.

Firstly there are 3 broad topics to address in todays committee session. Firstly is dedollirization and
the BRICS Financial Independence Initiative. Secondly is the discovery of oil in the artic circle and
possible exploration of it by the same considering ht opec oil embargo . Thirdly is the allegations
against major Indian conglormetrates and the Indian govt’s inaction against them.

The delegate would like to address the pressing issue of the artic circle with special emphasis on the
environmental concerns. Firstly addressing the legal aspect of the issue there are various laws and
treties governing the ARCTIC ENVIRONMENTAL PROTEC TION STRATEGY of 1991, un convention on
the law of sea,llulissat declration.

Firstly let as ponder upon whether the exploitation plan proposed by the us and eu is legally correct
or not. 2.2. principles Use and management of natural resources shall be based on an approach
which considers the value and interdependent nature of ecosystem components;( (ARCTIC
ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION STRATEGY of 1991))

So yes the exploitation is legally binding but comes with its own limits. The fragile ecosystem of the
artic should not be disturbed. Further more In the unclos:
Article 137 Legal status of the Area and its resources

1. No State shall claim or exercise sovereignty or sovereign rights over

any part of the Area or its resources, nor shall any State or natural or juridical

person appropriate any part thereof. No such claim or exercise of sovereignty

or sovereign rights nor such appropriation shall be recognized.

Any exploitation related to the artic region except the Svalbard region controlled by Norway and
Nunavut (an autonomous territory inhabited by Canada’s Inuit people) is controlled by the artic
council

Various agreements among Arctic nations, including those related to oil spill response and
environmental protection, set precedents for cooperation and sustainable practices.

When looking at it from a broader narrative first we need to identify various facets of problem with
various reasoning behind it.

Sanctions will negatively the common ppl of the country and plaace them in dire state.

1)When ever we look at any international conflict we must first identify the stakeholders affected by
the conflict. We must enhance the role of international financial institutions like the IMF and World
Bank in crisis management and conflict resolution. These institutions can provide a platform for
mediation and financial assistance, reducing the need for unilateral sanctions.

By supporting economic diversification, particularly in vulnerable nations, we can reduce their

reliance on any single economic partner or resource. This reduces the impact of sanctions and fosters
more balanced economic relationships.

Economic Mediation and Resolution Council (IEMRC) would be a newly formed global body
dedicated to resolving economic disputes and conflicts without resorting to sanctions. The IEMRC
would operate as a neutral, multilateral platform where nations can bring economic grievances,
trade disputes, and financial conflicts for mediation, negotiation, and resolution. This Avoids
Escalation, Long-term Stability

Further more targeted sanctions could be an alternative solution. In mant cases a company
registered in the country does a violation and by that the foreign countries give sanction sto all
countries producuing that form of goods but instead of that we can sanction the particular company
only. As the case of india explain.
