ABOUT ENTREPRENEURSHIP DEVELOPMENT CELL

The EDC is professionally accomplished by a perfect blend of faculty and students. The
Coordinators are delegated with responsibilities for the smooth conduction of Awareness
Programs, Events and Activities disseminating to the students in the Campus.
The prominence advisory board of EDC comprises of renowned well established Entrepreneurs
from various geographical regions whose ideas and expertise can be inspired. The EDC is there
to offer appreciable recommendation on all aspects of entrepreneurship.

VISION

To cater the needs of budding entrepreneurs with innovative ideas of societal relevance and
there introducing a culture of entrepreneurship inside campus which strengthens the
education system

MISSION

To develop an eco-friendly system with required infrastructure which will enable students
and faculty to innovate & develop their ideas with industrial standards and to seek support
from government, industry and reputed academic institutions globally and create
employment opportunity

OBJECTIVE

Entrepreneurship Development Cell and startup club aims to creating awareness among
students about various facets of Entrepreneurship while highlighting the merits of
pursuing Enterprises. It helps the entrepreneurs to enhance their organizing and
Managerial abilities so that they can run their enterprise efficiently and successfully

 To initiate Entrepreneurship and provides a platform to students to validate their ideas and
take them from laboratory to field.
 To develop the advanced skill of creativity and innovative thinking
 To empower and inspire students to thrive in the challenging world and to become
employment creators than seekers.

SHORT TERM GOALS

 To Help Students groups to model their ideas.


 To enhance innovation, creative and design thinking among student community.
 Incubation capacity for faculty driven start-up and student/alumni start-up.
 Organize FDP, seminars and workshops, Distinguish talks for students, Faculty and
Alumni encourage entrepreneurial culture.
 Strengthen Institute industry interaction cell activity and successfully use the outcomes
for achieving the mission.

LONG TERM GOALS

 Associate with Department of Science and Technology (DST), Confederation of Indian


Industry (CII), Ministry of Micro Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME) and other
academic institutions for transferring world class facility for RIT-EDC activities.
 Develop quality of research work among students and to arrive at patent which can be
commercially used in production.
 Provide a platform for students to develop innovative products with global recognition
and create business opportunities.
 Generate revenues through consultancy and student start-ups
 Spread awareness to students and faculty regarding IPR related activities
 Strategic partnership linkage with
o Tamil Nadu Entrepreneurship Development Institute (TN-EDII)
o National Innovation Foundation (NIF) of India to submit ideas and apply for
schemes
o Procure fund from AICTE for Entrepreneurship Development Cell
o Commencement of Masters/MBA programs in Entrepreneurship

PROCEDURES

 EDC coordinator enhances the innovation, creative and design thinking ideas of students and
develops it into products.
 Incubation and pre-incubation facility for faculty driven start-up and student/Alumni/Public
start-up.
 Organize Guest Lectures, seminars and workshops, FDP, motivational talks for students,
Faculty and Alumni to promote entrepreneurial culture.
 Improve quality of research work in RIT among students and to attain patent which can be
commercially used in production.
 Provide a platform for students to develop innovative products with global recognition and
generate business opportunities.
 Generate revenues through consultancy work and student start-ups.

ASSOCIATION & POLICIES


1. Institution's Innovation Council (IIC) Ministry of Human Resource
Development (MHRD)
Ministry of Education (MoE), Govt. of India has established ‘MoE’s Innovation Cell
(MIC)’ to systematically foster the culture of Innovation amongst all Higher Education
Institutions (HEIs). The primary mandate of MIC is to encourage, inspire and nurture young
students by supporting them to work with new ideas and transform them into prototypes
while they are informative years.
MIC has envisioned encouraging creation of ‘Institution’s Innovation Council (IICs)’ across
selected HEIs. A network of these IICs will be established to promote innovation in the
Institution through multitudinous modes leading to an innovation promotion eco-system in
the campuses

2. Entrepreneurship Development Innovation Institute (EDII), Government


of Tamil Nadu.

EDII promotes creation of Entrepreneurial & Innovative ecosystems in Universities,


colleges, etc. IEDP Hub along with EDII-TN organizes Top Management Meets to sensitize
college managements about the importance of entrepreneurship, establishing E-cells,
encouraging the students to participate in entrepreneurship curriculum course and other
entrepreneurship related activities

3. National Innovation and Startup Policy (NISP) for students and faculty
in HEIs

 NISP 2019 was launched by Hon'ble Minister of Human Resource Development on 11


September 2019.
 The policy intends to guide HEIs to promote students’ and faculty driven innovations &
startups.
 It will be instrumental in leveraging the potential of student’s problem solving &
entrepreneurial mind-set and promoting a strong intra and inter-institutional partnerships

4. Centre for Entrepreneurship Development (CED), Anna University


Centre for Entrepreneurship Development (CED), Anna University is carrying out
various programs for kindling the entrepreneurship inspirations of the Engineering College
