Screens:

Screen option N/O 1: reject

Defender looks: reject

Defender goes under: Pull

Switch: stay away from both defenders and make a triangle

(4 options)
1: Pull
2: if one defender contests, go inside and drive or pass (if it is the right
defender takes the roll, drive right, vice versa)
3: if they both contest, make your teammate roll for an easy bucket

If the defender chases you over the screen, go fast and tight on it.

steps for a 2 v 1 situation

Always read the dropping defender to pass or finish.
If he guards both of you, do a fake and run into a finish.

The main PnR pass is the pocket pass (bounce is better)

If the corner defender helps pass it to the corner, the same for the wing

PnR = communication + chemistry

Behind the back counter cross:

step 1: attack hard one way
step 2: wait until the defender overcommits
step 3: change direction with a behind-the-back
If they don’t block, then finish on the same side

shoulder contact helps

but extending your arm out is better
How to be more shifty
1: locate the top foot
2: fake attacking it tightly
3: explode the other way & get to the hoop
Faking going tight will shift a defender.
The defender WILL bump you if you attack tightly
use this to your advantage, switch when they shift the wrong way and all their body
weight is going the wrong way

finishing through contact

No contact allows the defence to jump high and potentially block you.
initiate contact instead to stop the defender from jumping high and possibly
drawing a foul
take away their speed and timing
Three ways of initiating contact
1) on your last dribble
2) on your last step
3) in the air
Bumping on your last dribble is the easiest and is very effective.
Bumping on your last step can help create some separation.
Veer finish: change direction on your last step, good at getting away from defence
Bumping in the air is hard, but it can draw fouls better and takes away the
defender’s jump by jumping into him.
It is better to use it when you are more athletic than your defender/help.
Bumping gives a lot of options, depending on what the defence does.
If they stand their ground, rise over them and finish.
If they go backwards, euro
If they try to avoid contact, drive and push them under the basket
do a one-step finish if you bump them into the basket
If the defender jumps too early, slow down and jump after him.
If they go for a block after the bump, pump fake and finish
If they are slow, get in front and cut them out of play (protect with the other
hand)
get low
1 on 1 player
off the dribble
Scoring is about getting advantages. Lateral movement is a simple way to do that.

Warmup:
Normal one

1:Hop jumpers (10 reps) 40%

2: one legged close shots (10 reps) 60%
3: turn around w/ jump and shoot in same jump (10 reps) 30%
4: low and high arc switches (20 reps) 65%
5: 2 dribble pickup (dribble twice and pick it up fast) 10 reps 60%
6: 5 but rotational (10 reps) 50%
7: high pull up (shot at the highest point in your jump) 10 reps 50%
8: bringing the ball up from different places (5 reps) 40%
9: bounce over shoulder quick shot (10 reps) 30%
10: put the ball on the floor and pick up shot (10 reps) 40%

6 Advanced reads:
1, PnR read: reading the corner defender, if they help with the big man, or rotate
to stop you, just pass to the corner
2, slip screens: focus on both players of an of ball screen because the screener
might slip
3, looking over the cut: if your teammate cuts and another defender sees this and
helps, skip it to their man
4, ghost screen: setting a screen and before even setting it, go into space, like
the slip, but for 3, as the ball handler, this might open up a lane to attack, but
the ghosted will normally be open, as the ghoster, try to find a open space on the
3 point line.
5, back door vs face cut: a face cut you should watch for a defender falling asleep
or not being in a good position and cut, in a back door, if the defender denies you
from going to the ball, run to the basket
6, peel switch: if you get blown by, yell: “peel”, or “take mine” to the helper and
take their man

Shooting, for catch and shoot, go towards the ball, bring it up through your right,
Don’t jump forward

Drill for catch and shoot:

Jump forward, backward and laterally while teammate is passing to you, 5 makes each

Drills for finishing:

20 min workout
10 mins: Self lob (change the angle frequently)
10 mins: net jump mikan

Backboard touch up and under

Dribble outside key hookshot

Full workout to get better touch

1: taps finishing (put back after every shot, make or miss) 4 minutes
2: across the lane touch finish
2.1: wide finish
2.2: inside hand
2.3: scoop across
2.4: overhand fade
2.5: put some English on it
2.6: reverse English
2.7: underhand (scoop finish) with inside hand
2.8: cradle (windmill and finish with some English)
3: jump from behind the backboard (normal) 6 makes each side
3.1: do the same but driving baseline, 4 makes each side
4: extended layup (from further away) 5 makes each hand
5: finish on your way down (finish when you are about to touch the ground, 8 makes
5.1: 5 but faster, 4 makes each hand
high speed series (get as much speed as possible)
6: face away from basket at the top of the key, and you have one dribble before
getting into a finish
6.1: 6 but make a move out of it (still one dribble)

Drills for interior shooting

1, Post-Up Jump Shots: Start in the low post area, receive a pass, and practice
shooting jump shots from different angles near the basket. Work on using your
footwork to create separation from the defender and elevate for a clean shot. Focus
on shooting with a high release point to avoid getting blocked.

2, Pick-and-Roll Jump Shots: Set up a pick-and-roll scenario with a teammate or

coach. Use the screen to create space and receive the ball in the mid-range or
short corner area. Practice catching and shooting jump shots quickly while
maintaining proper form and balance.

3, Offensive Rebound Kickouts: Position yourself near the basket as a teammate

takes a shot. Once the shot goes up, crash the boards for a potential offensive
rebound. If you secure the rebound, immediately kick the ball out to an open
teammate on the perimeter and relocate to an open spot for a jump shot. This drill
will help you develop the ability to convert second-chance opportunities into jump
shots.

4, Fake and Drive: Begin near the basket as if you're going for a layup. Instead,
execute a shot fake to get the defender off balance and quickly step back for a
jump shot. Focus on selling the fake and creating enough space to comfortably shoot
the jump shot.
Transition Jump Shots: Practice getting out on the fast break and receiving passes
in transition. Work on stopping quickly, setting your feet, and shooting jump shots
when defenders are trailing.

1, Reverse Layup Drill: Stand on the left side of the basket and start with a
dribble. Drive towards the hoop and execute a reverse layup with your right hand.
Repeat the same drill on the right side using your left hand. This drill will help
you practice finishing with finesse and creativity near the basket.
2, Post Moves and Finish Drill: Begin in the low post area and work on a variety of
post moves, such as drop steps, up-and-under moves, jump hooks, or baby hooks.
Focus on executing these moves smoothly and finishing with a soft touch around the
basket. You can add a defender or practice against imaginary defenders to simulate
game-like scenarios.
3, Floaters and Runners Drill: Practice shooting floaters and runners from various
angles in the paint. Start by driving towards the rim and use a soft touch to
release the shot before reaching the defense. Work on shooting off one foot or both
feet, adjusting your release point based on the defender's position. This drill
will help you develop a reliable scoring option when confronted with shot-blocking
threats.
4, Catch and Finish Drill: Start by standing close to the basket with a partner or
coach passing you the ball. Practice catching the pass and quickly finishing with
layups, jump hooks, or jump shots. Focus on receiving the ball in different
positions and adjusting your shot accordingly. This drill will help improve your
catching ability and scoring efficiency in tight spaces.

Form Shooting: Begin close to the basket and focus on perfecting your shooting
form. Take shots using proper technique, emphasizing your release, follow-through,
and shooting mechanics. Gradually move farther away from the basket as you become
comfortable, maintaining your form throughout.
Reverse Layups: Stand on one side of the basket facing away from it. Take a few
dribbles and execute a reverse layup on the opposite side of the rim. Focus on
using the backboard for a soft touch and practicing different release angles to
finish effectively near the basket.
One-Dribble Pull-ups: Start in different spots around the paint area. Take one
dribble towards the basket and quickly rise up for a jump shot. Focus on getting
your feet set and releasing the ball at the peak of your jump. Work on shooting
from various positions to improve your accuracy and adaptability.
Shot Fake and Drive: Practice shot fakes to simulate driving into the paint.
Pretend to shoot, then quickly transition into a dribble drive and finish with a
jump shot or a floater. Focus on selling the fake and developing a quick and fluid
motion from the shot fake to the jump shot.
