Combat Mechanics:

Initiative: The party rolls for initiative against the dragon.


Dragon Abilities: The Wyvern Dragon has a breath weapon that deals fire damage

Minions: As the fight begins, the dragon calls upon two of its draconic

The Devil Pact: Upon inspecting the archway, the party learns that it serves as a
portal to the Infernal Realm. A cunning devil named Zareth has marked this place as
a site to tempt mortals into making pacts. The air crackles with energy, and the
party hears a voice emanating from the archway, inviting them to step forward and
make a deal.

Options for Players:

Accept the Pact: Players can choose to negotiate with Zareth. In exchange for a
favor (like retrieving a soul or completing a task), they might gain a powerful
boon or a unique spell.

Refuse the Pact: Players can attempt to destroy the archway, which will summon
lesser devils to defend it. This leads to a combat encounter, testing their resolve
and teamwork.

Investigate Further: Players can conduct a ritual or perform checks to learn


more about the archway and the nature of the pact. Success could reveal hidden
truths or offer them leverage against Zareth.

Challenges:

If players choose to negotiate, they must engage in a battle of wits, requiring


Charisma checks against Zareth's cunning.
If they opt to destroy the portal, waves of lesser devils (2-3) will emerge to
protect it, fighting until the archway is destroyed or they are defeated.
If investigating, players may need to succeed on Arcana or History checks to
uncover the archway's secrets, potentially revealing the consequences of a pact or
how to close the portal permanently.

Environment Hazards:

The grove is enchanted, causing spells to behave unpredictably (e.g., wild


magic surges).
The mist can conceal monsters or traps, adding a layer of difficulty to
navigation and strategy.
