_______________1. A device used for viewing oscillations, as of electrical
voltage or current by a display on the screen of a cathode ray tube.
_______________2. Is an electronic measuring instrument that combines
several measurement functions in one unit.
_______________3. Rotating power drill powered by a motor.
_______________4. Detect the presence of voltage in a wire or piece of
equipment without making direct contact with the conductor or energized
part.
_______________5. It supplies heat to melt solder so that it can flow into the
joint between two workpieces. Often used for installation, repairs, and
limited production work in electronics assembly.
_______________6. A pistol-shaped, electrically
powered tool for soldering metals using tin-based solder to achieve a strong
mechanical bond with good electrical contact. The tool has a trigger-style
switch so it can be easily operated with one hand.
_______________7. Type of pressure-sensitive tape used to insulate electrical
wires and other materials that conduct electricity. It can be made of
many plastics, but vinyl is most popular, as it stretches well and gives an
effective and long lasting insulation.
_______________8. A key piece of safety gear that helps to prevent the
buildup of static electricity near sensitive electronics or other projects where
static charge could damage electronics or cause safety issues. The wrist
strap is often used with an anti-static mat or other type of workspace
covering.
_______________9. Magnification device that uses a convex lens (lens that is
thinner at the edges and thicker at the center) to magnify.
_______________10. Small electric light which gets its power from batteries
and which you can carry in your hand.
_______________11. Device for establishing a horizontal plane. It consists of a
small glass tube containing alcohol or similar liquid and an air bubble; the
tube is sealed and fixed horizontally in a wooden or metallic block or frame
with a smooth lower surface.
_______________12. This familiar device is spring-loaded so that the tape
retracts into its metal or plastic case when not in use. It is also known as a
flexible rule.
_______________13. Also known as a draw wire or draw tape or an "electricians
snake") is a tool used by electricians to route new wiring through walls
and electrical conduit.
_______________14. Small tools used for picking up objects too small to be
easily handled with the human fingers. The tool is most likely derived
from tongs, pincers, or scissors-like pliers used to grab or hold hot objects
since the dawn of recorded history.
_______________15. Foldable knife with one or more blades that fit inside the
handle that can still fit in a pocket. A typical blade length is 5 to 15
centimeters (2 to 6 in). Versatile tool, and may be used for anything from
opening an envelope, to cutting twine, slicing a piece of fruit or even as a
means of self-defense.
ENRICHMENT CARD

There is no doubt about the fact that electricity is an extremely

powerful source of energy which is used for powering machinery, lighting
items, tools, devices, and other products used by us in our day to day lives.
However, the same electricity can also be a huge
health hazard which causes serious injuries and
deaths. If you have any equipment or product which
deals with live electricity, then you should get the
same inspected by professionals.
One should use insulated tools when working
with energized live conductors. In fact, these tools
should be used even if one is not directly dealing with
such conductors but is present near such conductors.
As for electrical protective equipment, these should
be used generously, and they should be inspected from time to time in to
detect damages like punctures, holes, cuts, tears, and embedded foreign
objects. If found to be defective or worn out, then they should be replaced to
provide maximum protection against electricity.

The Importance of Working Safely with Electrical

Equipment
While working with or around electrical equipment, it is very import to
work with caution and in a safe and smart manner. The voltage and electrical
currents in businesses and homes has enough power to cause serious injury
and even death. People working with electrical equipment are faced with this
safety hazard on daily basis, it is very important to wear the proper apparel
and to follow some simple safety guidelines to avoid any possible injuries. By
following these safety guidelines below, you and your fellow workers will
greatly reduce the risk for serious injury or even death.

Safety Guidelines to Avoid Injury or Even Death

1. Avoid contact with all energized electrical circuits. This may be an
unwritten rule, but not following this rule just once could be fatal. A good
way to avoid this is to assume all electrical devices and circuits are live.
Never assume equipment is safe until you have confirmed it yourself,
your life may depend on it.

2. Be sure to unplug the power source of all electrical equipment before

working on it. Always pull from the plug, not the cord.

3. Always wear proper non-conductive clothing – insulated gloves, non-

conductive protective equipment and shoes with insulated soles. Avoid
loose clothing or ties.
4. Keep all water and liquids away from electrical equipment! If a spill does
occur, immediately shut the power off at the circuit breaker or main
power source and unplug the equipment.

5. If electrical equipment is producing a “tingle” or feels like it is

overheating, immediately turn the power off. Repair if possible if
unrepairable dispose of the faulty equipment. Never take the risk of
working with compromised equipment.

6. Enclose all electrical contacts and conductors to avoid accidental contact

with them. Never leave exposed electrical contacts or conductors
unattended.

7. When possible, work with only one hand, with your other hand at your
side and away from all conductive material. This precaution will lessen
the likelihood of an electrical current passing through the chest cavity.

8. Use only tools and equipment with non-conductive handles.

ASSESSMENT CARD 2

A. Direction: Write T (True) if the statement is correct and F (False)

if it is incorrect.
(Note: Please use another sheet of paper for your answer.)
1. __________ Cord and plug equipment should have a three prong plug or be
double insulated.
2. __________ Only authorized employees are permitted to work on electrical
systems and equipment.
3. __________ Electrical shock can cause damage to tissue, muscle, and
internal organs.
4. __________ The longer a person is exposed to an electrical shock (current),
the greater the risk of serious injury.
5. __________ Grounding conductors are usually black in color.

B. Direction: Write the correct name beside

the tool.
