Note: Physics and chemistry syllabus is same for both medical and engineering students.

Note: If a candidate requests the faculty to ask questions from any other topic of his/her
choice which is not mentioned in the above syllabus, faculty are expected to accept the
candidate’s request.
Marking Scheme for the Interview:
For this session’s interview process, the marking scheme will be different from the
previous sessions. There will be three parameters on which the candidates will be evaluated
by the panelists as follows:

1. Basic Subject Knowledge: How much knowledge/information does the candidate

have, (i.e. if the candidate remembers the theories & formulas) is to be evaluated in
this parameter.
2. Conceptual Understanding: How conceptually clear is the candidate about the
theories and formulas she/he knows or remembers, is to be evaluated in this
parameter.
3. Learning Ability & Aptitude: How quickly the candidate can grasp things or is he/she
able to understand the tricks/twists in the question, is to be evaluated in this
parameter.

For example, by asking a candidate the definition of scalar quantity and vector quantity
his basic subject knowledge can be judged. By asking if current is a scalar or vector quantity
his conceptual understanding of scalar/vector can be judged. After explaining the answer to
the first two questions to the candidate, if the candidate is asked if weight is a vector
quantity then why can it be added up or if Power of Lens is a scalar quantity then why is it
represented by +/- sign, then on the basis of her/his answer his aptitude or learning ability
can be judged.

Candidates are to be evaluated on these three parameters, irrespective of their category,

on a scale of 1-10. The equivalent meaning of the score 1-10 is as shown in the following
table:

Score Equivalence
9-10 Excellent
7-8 Good
5-6 Satisfactory
3-4 Average
1-2 Poor
