As appropriate to the particular project, comply where practically possible with the
requirements of the relevant parts of BS EN 12514 for the safety and corresponding tests for
plant, equipment and pipework within an oil supply installation to burners.
The document specifies that the fuel storage system includes a day-tank and a larger storage tank
system for fuel transfer. However, the exact volume of fuel storage is not directly mentioned. The
system includes day-tank instruments for monitoring fuel levels and alarms for over-fill and low-level
conditions.
9.1.3.13 Fuel system for outdoor generator
Fuel oil fill point at street level installed at the wall of adjacent electric substation.
Gear type simplex fuel oil pump sets (1 acting & 1 standby) to transfer fuel to daily tanks
located in the fenced area related to fuel tanks.
The tanks will be FRP above ground tanks surrounded with 1.5 m height fenced area, the
area between fence and tanks are related to fuel dike area.
Two tanks with estimated capacity 42,000 lit based on 8 operation hours per day for 5 days.
A. Day-tank Construction:
Fitted with drain plug, inlet and outlet pipe connectors, and breather pipe
Shall have replaceable paper air filter or breather caps with air filters
C. Day-tank instruments:
Installed on piping system between storage tank and one or more day-tanks for fuel transfer
Pump shall be self-priming type against the specific head shown on the Drawings
E. Day-tank Connections:
Fitted through holes in top of tank and welded all around inside and outside
Connections, except vent connection, shall extend inside tank to within 150 mm of bottom
Seamless black steel pipes of same size as connection and braced to tank walls
A manual valve shall be provided on the fuel supply line to the genset
F. Fuel Lines:
Treated internally with corrosion resistant paint and with joints sealed with PTFE tape
Changes in direction and branching and jointing shall be with regular pipefitting
G. Fuel Lines:
Size of fuel return line from day-tank to main fuel tank shall be to manufacturer's
recommendations
