Assignment question.

South African Cargo Services, a shipping company in South Africa is looking to add a new ship
to its fleet. As a financial analyst of the company, your role is to advise the management on the
several financing options available for the proposed purchase. Discuss the various sources of
finance for shipping, identifying the key players involved and their roles in the process. Outline
the step-by-step procedure for obtaining financing and evaluate the advantages and
disadvantages of each option. Use practical examples to support your discussion.

GUIDELINES:

1. This assignment should be done in groups already created on blackboard by the


lecturer. Each group member should make a contribution to the work, and then fill
out table 2 below which should be submitted with the assignment.

2. The assignment should be typed (Font = Times New Roman/Arial/Calibri(body);


Size = 12; Spacing = 1.5; and justified). Up to 6 marks will be deducted if this
is not strictly followed.

3. The assignment should comprise a maximum of 10 pages including cover page,


table of contents and references.
4. Avoid plagiarism and give references where you use someone’s work or
statements. Use the APA or Harvard style of referencing and make sure that all
references cited in your essay are included in the list of references. The use of the
Mendeley software is highly recommended. Up to 4% will be removed for
incorrect referencing.

5. Please ensure that you check and edit your work for proper grammar prior to
submission.

6. Include a cover paper which will have information such as surnames and initials,
student number and other relevant information. A table of contents should be
included too.

7. The assignment should be submitted through blackboard on or before 05 March


2025 at 23:59pm.
The Turnitin similarity index must not exceed 20%. 20 marks will be
deducted should this not be adhered to.
Submission link will be shared by the lecturer in due course. Each students will
be allowed unlimited attempts of submission but only the last submission
before the deadline will be considered.

8. Any submission after the due date will not be accepted.
