1. Service overview
The following general information acts as a starting point for the design and transition of a
new (or changed) service.

Service name Web Hosting

General / initial service description Web hosting is a service where website’s content
are made accessible to users by housing,
maintaining and serving files of the website.
(Potential) service customers and Business of all kinds that provide e-commerce
users service.

2. Business case
The following business case has been developed to support informed decision-making with
respect to the extension or change of the service portfolio from a strategic perspective:

Part 1: The customer perspective

e-commerce, we can level up our business and apply digital
marketing to reach our desired audiences. Customers have
multiple purchase options and get better deals and discount
codes.
Part 2: The service provider perspective

4. Service architecture

Enabling Services: -Enabling service includes those services that drive the core service. For
instance, in web hosting, the enabling service is a database management system, power
backups, power supply, and ISP (Internet Service Provider). Without these services, core
services cannot survive.
Enhancing services: - These services enhance and better the core services and act as a selling
point to the clients. They are not crucial to core service. In web hosting, website testing can
be considered as enhancing services
Integration and dependencies: - Integration and dependencies define the services that are
independent but work together to provide a single service to meet business needs.
Technical architecture: - Technical architecture is the design of technical aspects that
describe the workflow and blueprint of the organization. It is used to project the growth in
the organization and define how the goals will be met.

4.1 High-level service architecture

High-level service architecture summarizes the service design and service management
processes for the business. These are delivered through a service architect an integral
part of ITIL incorporating the SOA (Service Offerings and Agreements) and service design
referred to the clients. The fundamentals of service architecture will construct:

b. Service domain plan
c. Service proposition to customers
d. Service deployment plan
e. Service executive plan

4.1.1 Enabling service components

The enabling service components of web hosting include:
ISP: Internet service provider is an essential service provided to web hosting which
provides specialized bandwidth according to the business needs that provide a platform
where we base our service.
Web browser: A browser allows the business to provide a control panel to control the web
host account to manage the website by the clients.
Database server: The database server is utilized to accumulate data from website visitors
such as feedback, discussions etc.
Email Client: The email client is used by the business to transmit emails between the client
and the business. This is the most essential part of business, to gather clients.

4.1.2 Enhancing service components

Enhancing service components for Web hosting are the components that integrate with
core service to produce a whole service. Web hosting has many small services that assist the
core service. These include: -
Firewall implementation: - Firewall can be considered as SAAS (Software as a service) that
enhances the security of the server by filtering traffics from the server to the client. This
device is an essential part of maintaining security on the website. This is the second factor
that supports the business by providing assurance to the clients that their data is safe.
Using proxy servers: - Proxy servers are considered when you require more security,
balancing traffic, more response time and filtering traffic. This is a great way to secure the
server that is hosting the website.
Virtualization: Virtualization Is another factor to consider when we have multiple
applications running on multiple servers. By using this technology, we can host different
applications such as e-mail, and websites and run them into a single physical web server. So
we can host multiple websites On a server using shared resources. This gains the business
more scalability and reduces expenses.
Digital marketing: Digital marketing implemented in the web hosting business can attract
and convert more clients into purchasing our service.

4.1.3 Integration and dependencies

There are many services that act as integration and dependencies to create a successful web
hosting business. Website building tools such as WordPress and Wix.com are open-source
applications that help in designing websites. Similarly, database management system is
essential to store, manage, extract and manipulate the data that a website stores. Email
accounts are used by the website for email services where clients can communicate through
e-mails. FTP file upload is also another application used in web hosting through which we
transfer files to the website. These services work with each other to support the core service
which is web hosting.

4.2 Technical service architecture

The proposed service Is based on technical service architecture considering different
factors that affect its business. In selling an integrated maintenance service, different
perspectives are considered. These include:
Environmental architecture: As the service can be delivered remotely, the service
maintenance, update and enhancement are also delivered through the internet. But the
environmental architecture followed in the logical domain determines the quality of service
provided to the customer.

Page 6
The web hosting has three zones, the physical cabling zone, where all the placement of
hardware is cabled, the internetworking zone, where each server and switch talk with each
other logically and the endpoints which show the overall architecture of server-to-client
transmission. We also have website zones where we place content based on their type.

Network infrastructure: The network infrastructure of web hosting is based on the client-
server model where the client requests content and that is answered through the server
using different protocols on the internet. This is a typical architecture used by every website
on the internet.
Hardware: The hardware requirements for the business depend upon the business scale
intended. The typical hardware in place are servers, switch, racks, blades mainframes,
routers, and cooling systems. The specifications of these devices again depend upon the
server load.
Software/applications: Software used in the service can range from the types of service the
business intends to integrate. The most typical business use Operating systems such as Linux
or Microsoft windows, Hypervisor for virtualized approach, and Database management
software. For web servers, the most popular software is Apache, and Microsoft IIS. For
website development, WordPress, Drupal, and Weebly are popular content management
systems.

Information: The client’s crucial information and data are secured using security tools such
as firewalls and technologies such as device encryption, HTTPS and SSL. They are bound by
the Data protection act regulated by the government itself.
