36.There are three categories of students in a class of 60 students:


A: Very hard-working students
B: Regular but not so hard working
C: Careless and irregular.
It’s known that 10 students are in category A, 30 in category B and rest in
category C.It is also found that probability of students of category A, unable to
get good marks in the final year examination is, 0.002, of category B it is 0.02
and of category C, this probability is 0.20.

Based on the above information answer the following :


(i) Let E denote the event that the student could not get good marks in
the examination then find P(E/A) & P(E/B) (1)
(ii) If a student selected at random was found to be the one who could
not get good marks in the examination, then find the probability that this
student is of category C. (2)
(iii) Assume that a student selected at random was found to be the one
who could not get good marks in the examination. Then find the
probability that this student is either of category A or of category B.

37.Students of Grade 9, planned to plant saplings along straight lines, parallel to
each other to one side of the playground ensuring that they had enough play
area. Let us assume that they planted one of the rows of the saplings along the
line 𝑦 = 𝑥 − 4. Let L be the set of all lines which are parallel on the ground and R
be a relation on L. Answer the following using the above information.

38. The sports authority of India wants to design a rectangular football field with
maximum possible area inside an elliptical race track. The graph of the
sports field is defined as 4x2 + 9y2 = 36.

Based on above information, answer the following questions:


(a) If the length and breadth of the rectangular field be 2x and 2y respectively, then
find the area function A in terms of x
(b) By using first derivative test find the length and breadth of the football field that
maximize its area.
