I. OBJECTIVES:

At the end of the lesson, pupils should be able to:


A. Identify the names of the 8 planets of the Solar System
B. Describe the characteristics of each planet
C. Create an own version of the solar system

Okay class! Today, we are going to learn a

That’s right, very good! Our topic for today is all


about our Solar System.

b. DISCUSSION

So let us explore our solar system.

 SOLAR SYSTEM The Solar System is a fascinating and vast


collection of celestial bodies, all bound by the
gravitational pull of our star, the Sun. It
includes eight planets, their moons, dwarf
planets, asteroids, comets, and various other
objects.

 THE SUN The central star of our Solar System.


Composed primarily of hydrogen and helium.

 MOON Moon is our closest neighbor in space, and


Earth's only natural satellite.

 MERCURY The smallest and closest planet to the Sun.

 VENUS Is the second planet from the Sun it is known


for its thick, toxic atmosphere and extreme
temperatures.

 EARTH The only planet known to support life.

 MARS The "Red Planet," famous for its iron oxide


surface and past signs of liquid water.

 JUPITER The largest planet, a gas giant with a famous


Great Red Spot.
 SATURN Known for its stunning ring system.

 URANUS An ice giant with a unique tilt that causes


extreme seasonal variations.

 NEPTUNE An ice giant known for its strong winds and


storms and the farthest planet from the Sun.

c. APPLICATION

Class, in order for me to know if you really


understood our lesson today. I am going to ask “Me, Teacher”
you questions. I need five (5) volunteers. Raise
your hand if you want to answer.

Answer the following questions:

divided into five (5) groups with three (3)
members each. You will create your own
version of the Solar System. I will be providing
you the materials. You will be given 30mins to
create your own version of the Solar System.

Before we start, do you have any questions? “No, Teacher.”


Okay good, your 30mins starts now.
