BARANGAY NUTRITION ACTION PLAN (BNAP)

NARRATIVE PRESENTATION:

I. INTRODUCTION

Ang Barangay Kagawasan , nahimung sentro sa lungsod sa Dimataling


tungod kay anaa dinhi ang Munisipaliada sa Dimataling,kini nga barangay
nag longkob sa 7 ka purok nga adunay lumulupyo nga 3,129 ug adunay 721
ka bobong, subay niini adunay kitay 259 kabataan nga nag-edad ug 0-59
months, diin 48 niini malnourished .
The Punong Barangay issued the Executive Order No.15, Series of 2023
dated March 05, 2024 to Reorganization of the Barangay Nutrition
Committee(BNC) headed by Barangay Chairman ,Seven (7) Barangay Kagawad,
One (1) IPMR , and Sk Chairman, 7 BHW’s,Two (2) Day Care Workers, Seven
(7) Purok President , One Midwife, Farmers Association, Women’s
Organization (Kalipi),One (1) Senior Citizen President , One (1) 4Ps
President,One (1) Elementary School Head, One (1) High School Head, One
(1) Elementary Nurse, One (1) High School Nurse. Along with these
Executive Order was conducted a meeting on March 15, 2024 to comply the
Barangay Nutrition Action Plan 2024-2027. During the meeting was
organized into 4 groups to answer the Barangay Nutrition Action Plan.
The results of the workshop was the concrete Plan of the BNAP 2024-2027.
It also innumerate the reasons why this children become
malnourished. This was purposely dropped for the members of the BNC to
develop and carry out plans and programs for nutrition in the barangay.
It will also utilized to strategically utilize funds in accordance to
the needs of the children.
This Situational analysis focused on the issues and concerns with
malnourished children, cover in the 7 Puroks with 47 malnourished based
on the available data and based on the group discussion among the BNC
Members.

II. THE BARANGAY PROFILE
A.HISTORY
Overview of Barangay

Barangay San Miguel was the former name of this barangay, President Carlos P. Garcia
created is a political unit on May 21, 1959 thru an Administrative Act. In the year 1965, the barangay
council decided to change the name from San Miguel to Kagawasan. Today Barangay Kagawasan is composed
of seven (7) Puroks, with a total land area of 556.9379 hectares and has a total of 721 household and a
population of 3,129 (male 1,528 female 1,601) with a registered voters of 2,170, has a total of 625
household connected by Electricity.

Part of Barangay Development through the efforts and initiatives of the various
personalities that took turns in holding the reign of governance of the municipality since then. The
following are the list of barangay chiefs who had led the people of Kagawasan and turn the area into to
progressive barangay.

Since 1959 – 1961 the Appointed was Miguel Jarantilla “Teniente del Barrio” which is the first
name of this barangay “San Miguel” in honor of his name of Miguel Jarantilla.

In 1961 – they had Barangay Election and Roberto Suminguit was the winner, during the time in
1965 the barangay council made a resolution to change the name of Barangay San Miguel into Barangay
Kagawasan because Miguel Jarantilla administered the barangay will copied from the Spaniard Character.
Therefore during the time of Roberto Suminguit was change the name of this barangay. Roberto Suminguit
was the first Barangay Captain and they had dedicated a two (2) terms to administered this barangay
from 1961 – 1967.

In 1967 – 1985 Julian J. Ogang was the second Barangay Captain during the time of President
Ferdinand Marcos, the had administered of twenty (20) years in services as barangay captain.

In 2004 – 2013 Julian J. Ogang 5th Punong Barangay
In 2014 – 2023 Nilo H. Narciso 6th Punong Barangay

Barangay Kagawasan administered by the the Barangay Council from December 1, 2023 headed
by Honorable Dennis T. Larotin and seven (7) Barangay Kagawad; 1st Barangay Kagawad Chito A.
Galvez, 2nd Barangay Kagawad Reymar P.Aso, 3rd Barangay Kagawad Ricky M. Salgarino, 4th Barangay
Kagawad Eduardo D. Elnar , 5th Barangay Kagawad Ahlen B. Gomez, 6th Barangay Kagawad Prije L
Retiza, 7th Barangay Kagawad Rico M. Sorino, SK Chairman Josiah Vince Bechiee T. De Aquino and
Three (3) Barangay Functionaries which is Fabian T. Cañas as Barangay Secretary, Richel
Ringquijo as Barangay Treasurer and Tito M. Larotin as Barangay Encoder and . The Barangay
Personnel has a total of 30 Barangay Tanod, 21 Barangay Health Workers, 1 Barangay Nutrition
Scholar, 10 Lupon Tagapamayapa, 7 Purok Presidents and 2 Day Care workers, and 1 Barangay Aid.

The Barangay Kagawasan is bounded on the north by Barangays Sugbay Uno and Barangay
Poblacion, on the east by coastal Barangays of Bacayawan and Baranggay Buburay on the west Barangay Sa
Isidro and Sugbay Dos, Municipality of Pitogo and on the south by Barangay Balanagan. Today Barangay
Kagawasan is the Capital Barangay of the Municipality of Dimataling.

The General Description and Characteristics of the Barangay 5% coastal, 90% plain, 5% hilly,
5% clay-loam, 90% loam, 5% sandy loam. Barangay Kagawasan is an Agricultural barangay. The Economic
condition and major source of livelihood; Farming, Business, Employment, Fishing. Type of Agricultural
Crops; Rice, Corn, Coconut, Banana, and Gardening. Still Traditional farming system.

The Physical Infrastructure Facilities; for transportation habal-habal, Van and for
communication facilities has a two (2) tower of Globe and Smart. For Water Supply DIWAS, Deep Wheel
Electric pump

Barangay Owned Facilities; Barangay Hall, Barangay Multi-Purpose Building, Barangay Gym, Freedom Stage,
KALAHI Solar Dryer with Storage, 2 Day Care Centers, Verme Building, VAWC Building, Barangay Health
Center, MFR. Education Facilities; KALAHI Isolation Building, Complete Elementary, Complete
Secondary, with on going construction of College School.

Barangay Based Institutions (BBIs); Barangay Development Council (BDC), Barangay Nutrition
Council (BNC), Barangay Peace and Order Council (BPOC), Barangay Anti-Drug Abuse Council (BADAC),
Barangay Human Right Action Officer (BHRAO), Barangay Council Protection for Children (BCPC, Barangay
Disaster Rick Reduction Management Council (BDRRM), Barangay Health Emergency Response Team (BHERT),
Barangay Physical Fitness Sports Development Council (BPFSDC), Lupon Tagapamayapa and this organization
headed by Barangay Captain.
B. DESCRIPTIVE INFORMATION OF THE BARANGAY

Tinyente del Barrio nga si Miguel Jarantilla nga gi appoint ni Mayor
Jorge Fernandez. Sa tuig 1959 adunay nahimong Barangay Election og
giparangan sya ni Roberto Sumiguit og nahimong resulta sa Barangay
Election si Roberto Suminguit maoy nahimong mananaog sa maong election.
Gikan sa tuig 1961-1967 panahon sa pag dumala ni Roberto Suminguit uban
sa iyang mga Konsihales naghimo og resolution nga ang “ San Miguel “
ilisan sa pangalan nga “Kagawasan” tungod sa rason ang pagdumala ni
Miguel Jarantilla susama sa kinaiya sa mga Kastila.

ka BHW uban sa mga Purok Officials. Ang maong barangay adunay duh aka Day
Care Center ,anaa dinhi ang complete Elementary, Junior High School,
Senior High School ,Colegio , og ALS, ania sad dinhi ang nagkalain-laing
tinuhuan, Municipal Health Center ( RHU) , nga maoy sentro sa paglantaw
sa panglawas. Ania dinhi ang Municipal Hall, Municipal Trial
Court,Dimataling Commercial Center Building, Comelec Building, Tourism
Building, Sangguniang Bayan Building, Evacuation Center, Kalipi Building,
Zamboanga Del Sur Provincial Government College, Banana Chips Building.

Cebuano, Ilongo, Ilocano, Subanen ug Muslim.
Sa pagkakaron ang Barangay gidumala ni Dennis T. Larotin nga mao
Punong Barangay uban sa 7 ka Kagawad nga mao si Chito A. Galvez- 1st
Kagawad, reymar P. Aso-2nd Kagawad, Ricky M. Salgarino-3rd Kagawad,
Eduardo D. Elnar-4th Kagawad, Ahlen B. Gomez- 5th Kagawad, Prije L.
Retiza-6th Kagawad, Rico M. Sorino-7th Kagawa dug 1 SK Chairman Josiah

IV. THE BARANGAY NUTRITION SITUATION/SITUATIONAL ANALYSIS:

maong mga bata kulang sa timbang og gitawag nga malnourished.
Naa tay Overweight nga 2,Underweight nga 1,Severly Underweight
nga 2,Tall nga 2,Stunted nga 23 kabouk, Severly Stunted nga
8,Obese nga 3,Moderately Wasted nga 4 ug Severly Wasted nga 1.
Ang maong kahimtang nagumikan sa kakulangon sa pagproseso sa
masustansyang pagkaun.
Ang Barangay Official gipangunahan ni Punong Barangay Hon.

Anaay Supplemental Feeding gikan sa Province nagpadyun
kini hangtod krun ug naka kuha pod kami lain nga Supplemental
Feeding gikan sa laing nga NGO mao ang Social Paraclete ingun
niini naka paningakmot kami nga maubsan ang mga malnourish nga
mga kabataan naka dawat kami ug 1,470kls Feeding nga Supply sa
maong NGO ug mao ipadayun kani mo dagan ug 6 ka bulan ang
maong Feeding ug sa umaabot pa,arun makunhuran ang gi daghanon
sa mga kabataannga kulang sa timbang .
Ang adbokasiya para sa mga katawan sa among Barangay
gapadayun. Para sa maayong kaugmaon sa atong mga kabataan. Ang
adbokasiya nga anaa jud tay tagsa tagsa ka mga backyard
gardening, dungang pang kalimpyo sa atong mga palibot. Kani
nga adbokasiya dili lng kini karung nga panahon, kondili sa
umaabot sunod nga mga henirasyon. Ug usa sa aksyon ng gi himo
sa among Barangay ang maong makig tap ug NGO( None Government
Organization) nga mao ang Social Paraclete Association
Incorporated, ug tabang sa ma abtikon Punong Barangay uban sa
kinatibuang Konsiho naka pahagyon kami sa pag palapnag sa
maong Food Feeding Program nga mao ang tumong sa pagpakunsad
sa mga malnourished nga kabataan ug maga padayun pa kini sa
sunod pa mga katuigan.

 Sa tuig 2024-2026, all parents ,especially sa pregnant women mag conduct ug mothers
class and tackle the important of prenatal.
 Sa tuig 2024-2026, all households kinahanglan naa nay Cr.
 Sa tuig 2024-2026, School will provide some class to the student how big impact the
teenage pregnancy
 Sa tuig 2024-2026, wala nay batang malnourished
B. OBJECTIVES
a. GENERAL/OUTCOME OBJECTIVE
Mapaabot sa ginikanan kung unsa importante ang Pre-natal sa usa ka buros
Mapaabot sa Mama unsa ang Healthy Benefits nga makuha sa bata kung sya fully
immunize
Maipakita sa mga ginikanan nga kaya kab-oton ang himsog pang lawas bisan ug
dili financially stable
Educate Parents / Seminar sa proper meal sa bata
Maipakita sa matag household ug unsa importante ang kalimpyo sa palibot
b. OUTPUT OBJECTIVE
Sa Feeding gikinahanglan ug Rice,Gulay Gatas, Itlog ug Karne
Advice all Pregnant Parents to complete their Prenatal Check-up
Conduct Mothers Class to all Lactating Mothers teach how important the
breastfeeding
Sa Backyard Gardening nagkinahanglan ug mga liso sa utanon nga gigamitan ug
organic fertilizer
One on one class Orientation and Evaluation to parents
Home visitation to the parents of Malnourished Child
Provide Feeding program at least 5 Days a Week

FUNCTION OF THE BNC


1.Help formulate the 3 year Barangay Plan of Action for
Nutrition (BPAN) preferably before the budgeting
period.

2.Generate and or mobilize resources for the BPAN


through fund raising activities/other activities.

3.Coordinate and integrate nutrition-related projects and


activities of the government and nongovernment
agencies.
4.Organize and mobilize the community to participate the
Barangay Nutrition Program.
5.Prepare a Barangay Nutrition Spot Map.
6.Conduct Operation Timbang (OPT) in coordinate with
the rural health unit.
7.Help implement the nutrition programs and to
periodically assess its progress.
8.Hold regular meetings to monitor program
performance.
