Application Overview
The NEXIV MapMeasure is used to measure work pieces of the same shape, which are arranged on the stage.
This application software can quickly edit settings of the interval and the number of work pieces and specification of
measurement work pieces.
To start measurement by using the NEXIV MapMeasure, the NEXIV AutoMeasure must be running.
The created recipe file is stored in the RECIPE folder and the result file is stored in the DATA folder.

(2) DATA Folder This folder contains the result files of recipe-file based replay
measurements and csv files created when file conversion is requested.
(3) Sample number.nmr .nmr A result file of recipe-file based replay measurement.
(Result file) The sample number specified for the replay is used for the file name.
(4) Teaching file name.csv .csv A csv file created when file conversion is requested for teaching-file based
replay measurement.
The teaching file name is used for the name of this file.
(5) RECIPE Folder The folder contains the created recipe files.
(6) Recipe file name.nrcp .nrcp A file in which measurement conditions and work pieces installation
conditions are described.
(7) Map file name.nmap .nmap A file in which work pieces installation conditions (such as intervals and
number of work pieces) are described.
1 Basic Operations
This chapter describes the basic usage, menu, and panels (panes) of the NEXIV MapMeasure (application).
Basic Operations
1. Start the NEXIV MapMeasure.
Start the NEXIV MapMeasure from the Start menu or by clicking the icon on the desktop.
When the NEXIV MapMeasure is installed, following types of user categories are set by default: Manager
(NEXIV3-MGR) and Operator (NEXIV3-OP).
Enter the user name and password to log in and click the [OK] button.
The login operation will be skipped if the [The software is started automatically by current login user after next
time] checkbox is selected in the [User Account Setting] pane.
Click this button to log in to the NEXIV MapMeasure with the entered user
[OK] button name and password.
This button is disabled when no user name has been entered.
[Cancel] button Click this button to close the window and terminate the NEXIV MapMeasure.

Click the icon at the right end of the title bar in the main window to display the system menu. Select [Close] in

Use this window to load the recipe file, set measurement conditions, start measurement, and check measurement
results.

Measurement Status This field displays the information on the recipe file, teaching file, etc.
Recipe file This field displays the absolute path for the current recipe file.
Teaching file This field displays the absolute path for the teaching file.
Alignment file This field displays the absolute path for the alignment file.
[Output result file] Specify whether to output measurement results to the result file. OFF
checkbox When this checkbox is selected, measurement results are output to the result file.
This button is available only when login to the NEXIV MapMeasure has been
made as an administrator (NEXIV3-MGR).
This checkbox is always selected if login has been made as an operator.
Result file This field displays the absolute path for the result file.
Click the [Detail settings] button to specify the result file output destination.
[Move safe position after Specify whether to set move the stage to the safe position after all OFF
measurement] checkbox measurements are completed.
When this checkbox is selected, the stage moves to the safe position.

Measurement This field displays whether the workpiece is to be measured and measurement
result.
Measurement workpiece This area is used to specify whether to select measurement workpiece for each
and measurement result area or whether to skip measurement.
display area This display area is called map hereafter in this document.
<Switching measurement workpieces>
Switch “Selected” and “Skip” by clicking the mouse.
Reverse all lines by pressing the [Shift] key and clicking the mouse.
Reverse all columns by pressing the [Ctrl] key and clicking the mouse.
The area that is being measured blinks.
After the target area has been measured, the measurement result is
overwritten.
[Zoom In] button Click this button to decrease one line and one column of the displayed area.
[Zoom Out] button Click this button to increase one line and one column of the displayed area.
[Clear] button Click this button to clear the map to display only the specification of
measurement workpiece (“Selected”) or skipping measurement (“Skip”).
[Error and fail] combo Specify the information to be displayed in the [Error and fail] list box. [Error and fail]
box One of the following is selectable.
Error and fail
The error item and fail item of measurement result are displayed.
Error only
Only the error item of measurement result is displayed.
Fail only
Only the fail item of measurement result is displayed.
[Error and fail] list box This list box displays workpiece whose measurement resulted in an error or
failure.
The content in this list box is retained until the [Run] button is clicked or the
recipe file or teaching file is updated.
[Detail settings] button Click this button to perform measurement detail settings.
For details, see 2.3.1, “Detail settings.”

The main menu of NEXIV MapMeasure has the structure described below.
Map Use this menu to read, edit, and save the map file. –
Measurement Use this menu to start and finish measurement and change settings. –

Result Use this menu to output measurement results to the result file. –

Settings Use this menu to make user account settings and language setting. –
This menu contains functions for reading and writing recipe files.
Save file Use this menu to overwrite a recipe file with the currently edited version. Ctrl+S
Save as Use this menu to save the currently edited version of a recipe file under a new –
file name.
Recent NRCP file 1 to 4 Use this menu to display a list of up to four recipe files opened most recently. –
This menu is used to read and save the map file (describing work pieces installation conditions such as the interval and
number of work pieces) and set the map (measurement workpiece and measurement result display area in the main
window).
Recent NMAP file 1 to 4 Use this menu to display a list of up to four map files opened most recently. –
View Use this menu to enlarge or reduce the map.
Detailed Settings Use this menu to array pattern, view, and color setting for map in the wizard format.
This function sets array pattern, view, and color setting for map in the wizard format.
(1) Array
This function specifies workpieces (measurement area) with the numbers of rows and columns in the array pattern and
distance.
When the number of rows or columns is changed, all areas in the array pattern are set again as a measurement workpiece.
Array pattern Set the numbers of rows and columns in the array pattern.
The number of arrays Set the number of array pattern.
Row Set the number of cow. 5
Column Set the number of column. 5
Distance Set the interval between workpieces.
Row [mm] Set the row interval (unit: mm). 0.0000
Column [mm] Set the column interval (unit: mm). 0.0000
[Back to previous] button Use this button to restore the state at the time when the [Map > Detailed Settings >
Array] pane was displayed or the [Apply] button was clicked.
[OK] button Use this button to apply the settings and close the pane.
[Cancel] button Use this button to discard the settings and close the pane.
[Apply] button Use this button to apply the settings without closing the pane.
(2) View
This function sets workpiece display direction, serial numbers starting number, and the location of part used for teaching.
To set the location where the teaching file was created, set the numbers of rows and columns as the location of part
used for teaching.

(3) Color
This function sets color for the measurement workpiece and measurement result.

Measurement workpiece Set the color of selected workpieces and the color of skipped workpieces.
[Back to previous] button Use this button to restore the state at the time when the [Map > Detailed Settings
> Color] pane was displayed or the [Apply] button was clicked.
[OK] button Use this button to apply the settings and close the pane.
[Cancel] button Use this button to discard the settings and close the pane.
[Apply] button Use this button to apply the settings without closing the pane.
This menu is used to start measurement, terminate measurement, set measurement settings and set result file settings.
Detail Settings Use this menu to set the measurement settings and result file settings.

When [End] is clicked

Selecting [Measurement] - [End] from the menu bar or clicking the [End] button on the main window while the
NEXIV MapMeasure is in measurement stops the measurement operation of the NEXIV MapMeasure.
However, the replay operation of the NEXIV AutoMeasure does not stop at the same time.
For this reason, to stop all operations, operate the NEXIV AutoMeasure to suspend or terminate the replay
operation.
This function sets alignment and other measurement condition in the wizard format.

Alignment file path This field displays the absolute path for the alignment file.
[Browse] button Use this button to specify the alignment file to be replayed after
measurement starts.
[Back to previous] button Use this button to restore the state at the time when the [Measurement >
Detail Settings > Alignment] pane was displayed or the [Apply] button was
clicked.
[OK] button Use this button to apply the settings and close the pane.
[Cancel] button Use this button to discard the settings and close the pane.
[Apply] button Use this button to apply the settings without closing the pane.
(2) Conversion/Transfer
This function sets whether to convert the file, whether to transfer the file, and how to convert and transfer the file after
measurement of each workpiece.

[Set file conversion] When this checkbox is not selected, the teaching file settings remain OFF

[Set file conversion] Use this button to specify whether to convert the execution result file to a CSV [No
radio button file when outputting it and also to specify the execution result file output conversion]
direction when the file is converted.
One of the following three items is selectable:
No conversion
Vertical
Horizontal
[Set file transfer] When this checkbox is not selected, the teaching file settings remain OFF
checkbox unchanged.
When this checkbox is selected, specify whether to transfer the file by the [Set
file transfer] radio button.
[Set file transfer] Use this button to specify whether to transfer the execution result file to the [No transfer]
radio button external computer when outputting the file.
One of the following two items is selectable:
No transfer
Transfer
[Back to previous] button Use this button to restore the state at the time when the [Measurement > Detail
Settings > Conversion/Transfer] pane was displayed or the [Apply] button was
clicked.
[OK] button Use this button to apply the settings and close the pane.
[Cancel] button Use this button to discard the settings and close the pane.
[Apply] button Use this button to apply the settings without closing the pane.
This function sets motion during measurement and motion after measurement.

Motion during measurement This field sets the direction of measurement and processing in case the
measurement result is abnormal.
[Action for tolerance Set processing to be performed for cases for which “Error” judgment is given. [Pause]
error] radio button One of the following three items is selectable:
Pause
Pause the replay measurement when an error is returned for the tolerance
judgment.
Run nest step
Continue the replay measurement when an error is returned for the tolerance
judgment.
Run nest sample
Stop the measurement for the current workpiece when an error is returned for the
tolerance judgment, and moves on to the next workpiece for replay measurement.
[Printer output] radio Set whether to output measurement results to the printer after replay [Standard]
button measurement.
One of the following three items is selectable:
Standard
Items for which tolerance judgment is set or items specified as output items
are output to the printer.
Failed data only
Only tolerance judgment error items are output to the printer.

No output
No measurement result is output to the printer.

Motion after measurement
[Move to safe position Specify whether to move the head to the safe position after all measurements OFF
after measurement] are completed.
checkbox When this checkbox is selected, the head moves to the safe position.
This checkbox is available when login to the NEXIV MapMeasure has been
made as an administrator (NEXIV3–MGR).
[Back to previous] button Use this button to restore the state at the time when the [Measurement > Detail
Settings > Motion Option] pane was displayed or the [Apply] button was clicked.
[OK] button Use this button to apply the settings and close the pane.
[Cancel] button Use this button to discard the settings and close the pane.
[Apply] button Use this button to apply the settings without closing the pane.
This function sets the file name and output conditions for measurement result.

Result file Set the result file (CSV) output destination and the output format.
Folder This field displays the folder path for the result file output destination.
[Browse] button Use this button to specify the folder of the result file output destination.
[Insert keyword] Use this button to insert a keyword into the end of [File name format].

Convert to the teaching file name.
<LOT>
Convert to the lot number.
<SAMPLE>
Convert to the sample number.
<DATE>
Convert to the year/month/day/hour/minute.
Example) Data of 19:33 April 10, 2014 is converted to “201404101933”
In addition to any file name, the following six file name formats are selectable:

Output file name This field displays the output CSV file name.
When a keyword is set in the [File name format] combo box, the keyword is
converted and displayed.
[Conversion method] Set the execution result output direction (vertical or horizontal) when converting [Horizontal

(5) Variables
These variables can be used for [Nominal value], [Upper tolerance], [Lower tolerance], and others in calculation
formulas and output condition settings.

Default value Set initial values (real numbers) for each variable name.
The initial value of unentered variables is 0.
[Back to previous] button Use this button to restore the state at the time when the [Measurement > Detail
Settings > Variables] pane was displayed or the [Apply] button was clicked.
[OK] button Use this button to apply the settings and close the pane.
[Cancel] button Use this button to discard the settings and close the pane.
[Apply] button Use this button to apply the settings without closing the pane.
(6) Message

[Message output] checkbox Specify whether to output the input message to the CSV file for the OFF
measurement results.
If this checkbox is selected, the message will be output to the CSV file for the
measurement results.
List of message When the [Message output] checkbox is selected, up to 20 messages can be
entered.
[Back to previous] button Use this button to restore the state at the time when the [Measurement >
Detail Settings > Message] pane was displayed or the [Apply] button was
clicked.
[OK] button Use this button to apply the settings and close the pane.
[Cancel] button Use this button to discard the settings and close the pane.
[Apply] button Use this button to apply the settings without closing the pane.
File Conversion Use this menu to convert measurement results to a CSV file. -
Only items for which output conditions have been set in the teaching file set by the recipe file are converted to a CSV file.

Lot number list This field displays a list of lot numbers related to the teaching file that is being
loaded.
Clicking a lot number in the list sets it as a lot number to be converted.
Sample number (From) Set the starting number of the sample number to be converted.
The valid range of this parameter is 1 to 10000.
Sample number (From) list This field displays a list of sample numbers related to lot numbers.
Clicking a sample number in the list sets it as a sample number to be converted.
Sample number (To) Set the end number of the sample number to be converted.
Sample number (To) list This field displays a list of sample numbers related to lot numbers.
Clicking a sample number in the list sets it as a sample number to be converted.
Conversion method Set the execution result output direction (vertical or horizontal) when converting [Horizontal

User account setting Use this menu to display, register, edit and delete user accounts. –
Language setting Use this menu to change the language setting for the application. –

2.5.1 User Account Setting
Menu Bar
This menu item displays, registers, edits, and deletes user accounts that are entered during the login procedure.
Operations for user account settings are limited only to persons with the administrator privilege.
Two users of administrator (NEXIV3-MGR) and operator (NEXIV3-OP) are registered initially when the system is
introduced.
Selecting [Settings] - [User account setting] on the menu bar displays the [User Account Setting] pane.
List of users
Current login user name This field displays the current login user name.
[Auto login by current user in Select this checkbox when logging in to the system with the current login user. ON
next startup] checkbox When this checkbox is selected, login operation is skipped at the next and
subsequent login and the user does not need to enter a password.
Layout This field displays the panel layout name to be shown after login.
Password This field displays whether user’s password input is necessary or not during the
login procedure
*: User’s password input is necessary.
<none>: User’s password input is not necessary.

(2) Record new
Click the [Record new] button in the [User Account Setting] pane to open this pane.
[OK] button Use this button to create a user, close the pane, and display the [User Account
Setting] pane.
[Cancel] button Use this button to discard the settings, close the pane, and display the [User Account
Setting] pane.
(3) Edit
Select the user to be edited in the [User Account Setting] pane and click the [Edit] button to open this window.
Other procedures for using this window are the same for the [New User] pane.

(4) Delete
Select the user to be deleted in the [User Account Setting] pane and click the [Delete] button to open the confirmation
dialog box.
Deleting operations for these two users (administrator and operator) are disabled. The current login user cannot be
deleted either.
[Yes] button Use this button to delete the selected user and close the dialog box.
This menu item changes the language setting for the NEXIV MapMeasure.
The languages for which the language resource data exists are displayed in the drop-down list. Select the required
language and then restart the NEXIV MapMeasure.
