INTRODUCTION

Mathematics plays a crucial role in students' academic performance by forming

their overall academic growth, specifically in the fundamental years of secondary

education. Mathematics as one of the major subjects prepares students with essential

skills that are relevant across several fields of study.

Statistic helps to evaluate the academic performance of the students of Grade 10 –

Cepheus in the Mathematics subject, pointing out their strengths and their weaknesses

that need improvement. This study will help to provide a deep understanding of the

effectiveness of the teachers' teaching strategies.

Through a complete analysis of their exam scores, this will serve as a tool for

teachers and students to understand the problems faced in learning and mastering

Mathematical concepts. Moreover, the results of this statistic can help us ensure that the

needs of the learners are met in the Mathematics subjects, the factors influencing their

learning outcomes, and how the overall learning environment within the school affects

them.

PRESENTATION, ANALYSIS, AND INTERPRETATION OF DATA

This research employed a questionnaire to administer a 50-items Mathematics test

to 51 students from 10- Cepheus at Gen Tiburcio De Leon National High School. The

primary objectives were to evaluate the students’ knowledge of measure of tendency and

position in the Mathematics Curriculum. Additionally, the study aims to assess their

preparedness for upcoming academic challenges in Senior High School and College,

particularly in related subjects.

RAW DATA

Shown below are the scores of 51 students from Grade 10- Cepheus on a 50-item on the

third periodic test in Mathematics

STEPS IN CONSTRUCTING A FREQUENCY DISTRIBUTION TABLE

I. Solve for the range

Range = Highest score - Lowest score

Range = 38 - 9

Range = 29

4|Page
GEN. TIBURCIO DE LEON NATIONAL HIGH SCHOOL
Corner Mercado St., Gen. T. de Leon, Valenzuela City

II. Determine the Ideal number of classes

2k = the closest power of 2 that is greater than or equal to the total number of
scores in the data set

k = ideal number of classes

Since 51 is the total number of classes in the data set, then 2⁶ or 64 is the closest
power of 2 greater than or equal to 51.

Therefore k = 6

III. Determine the class width

Class size (i) = .
