My CAS experience of teaching English to children from underprivileged socio-economic backgrounds

has been influential in my personal life and future goals. At the beginning, I aimed to address the issue
of educational inequality that I faced in my early years. In working with my friends from the boarding
school, we organized weekly lessons, designed a curriculum, and conducted quizzes. Each action
required meticulous thought processes, teamwork, and persistence.
Plenty were the challenges: classroom management and balancing our academic workload instilled in
us qualities of time management and pedagogical skills, whereas other instances, such as counseling a
student after his performance in a quiz, taught the value of patience and empathy.

These moments have brought in the ethical effect of what our actions are, wherein in them we not
only molded knowledge but self-confidence and enthusiasm to study. We needed to cooperate if we
were going to work. Each one had his special strengths, such as logistics over transport and getting the
children to participate by using games. Although there were disagreements on some details in the
curriculum, open discussions and respect paved the way to overcome this challenge. This experience
of collaboration reminded me of the fact that through teams, impacts are multiplied, a lesson I will be
carrying for the rest of my future engagements. Looking back, this situation became the driving force
in highlighting my strengths and improving my weaknesses. I learned how to adapt my teaching to
every need of the student in a flexible manner and also was committed to their advancement. The
smiles, the improved quiz scores, the heartfelt gestures, a student's drawing of our class—the
importance of perseverance, that even the smallest acts of service go a long way keep getting
reiterated to me.

Generally speaking, all along, this CAS undertaking has been a remarkable set of personal growth,
collaboration-problem-solving, and ethically responsible experiences. This would further reiterate the
strength that lies behind acting locally with an issue that is a growing global concern and has taught
me skills that I will hopefully continue to build on, both in future mentoring roles, as well as in other
wide community initiatives addressing issues and equipping me with skills I will continue to build
upon, whether in future mentoring roles or broader community initiatives.
