It is undeniable that music plays a vital role in human life.

It is simply because music has a huge impact

on many aspects of life. This essay will shed light on two of its positive effects related to psychology and
education.

In terms of psychological effects, music is able to enhance mental well-being. To be more specific, music
helps boost pleasure chemicals in our brain. For instance, dopamine, a hormone related to reward and
motivation, is released when we listen to our favourite songs. Another psychological effect of music is to
reduce stress. Listening to music can contribute to lowering the level of cortisol, a hormone related to
stress. In addition, some genres of music could automatically slow down our pulse, heart rate, blood
pressure as well as breathing, which calms down our mind and relaxes our muscles.

In terms of educational effects, music can create a perfect environment for concentration because it
blocks external distractions. Thanks to listening to music in study time, students could maintain their
concentration on studying without being interrupted by background noises and other sounds of the
surrounding environment. As a result, they can learn effectively and have high academic performance.
Another effect of music related to education is fostering memorisation skills. When preparing for a music
performance, people have to memorise lyrics, rhythms and other elements at the same time. These
memorisation skills can be applied to memorise facts and figures in academic subjects at school.

In conclusion, no one can deny two profound effects that music has on human psychology and
education, from enhancing mental well-being, reducing stress to increasing concentration as well as
fostering memorisation skills. I think we should take advantage of these benefits to live happily and learn
better by listening to music while facing challenges of life and studying.
