SPECIAL & ACADEMIC AWARDS (GRADE 2 AND GRADE 3)

SMALLVILLE MONTESSORI students are known for their excellent academic performance.
SVM program is equally giving importance on both the academic and character formation of
the children. Along with the development of the intellect, the curriculum also focuses on
nurturing the creative personality of the child which brings to our full understanding of the
power of the unconscious in learning and of how emotional growth is linked to mental
growth. We are giving special awards based on Montessori virtues and values such
SIMPLICITY, MUSIC, ARTS & MOVEMENT, CREATIVITY, GENEROSITY, HUMILITY,
ORDERLINESS, SOCIAL GRACE & COURTESY, INDEPENDENCE, CHEERFULNESS &
LEADERSHIP AWARDS.

SIMPLICITY
AWARD is given to the child who acts unassumingly though he/she has high esteem. The
child values the important components in life which can’t be seen but perceived. She has
the bearing of self-acceptance and the strong, realistic self-concept. The child enjoys
beauty beyond its physical limitations. The SIMPLICITY AWARD goes to the following
students:

MUSIC, ARTS & MOVEMENT


Music arts & movement play an important function in the development of aesthetic potential
of each child to the highest level & development of emotions. The MAM AWARD is given to
the child who has developed his/her great appreciation, responsiveness and understanding
in music, arts & movement into his/her full potential. As the child expresses his/her ideas &
experiences through drawing, painting & other art projects, writing, singing, composing, and
moving creatively. The MUSIC, ARTS & MOVEMENT AWARD goes to the following
students:

CREATIVITY
AWARD is given to the child who is able to utilize the infinite number of materials around
him. He has developed his/her ingenuity and resourcefulness. The child learns about the
limits and possibilities of the material world. He/she learns to adapt to the environment and
how to be creative in it. The child has a growing awareness of the elements of the arts,
aesthetic appreciation, the ability to express his/her feelings and communicate the
experiences in imaginative ways.
The CREATIVITY AWARD goes to the following students:

GENEROSITY
Love is a naturally occurring force in the child’s view of his material world. The thought of
being able to share and to give unconditionally to other children makes him/her the perfect
epitome of being a child. The GENEROSITY AWARD is given to the child who has learned
that all the materials & activities he or she is carrying out are not only for his benefit, but also

for the group as a whole. Furthermore, the child learns to cooperate, collaborate and help
others. The GENEROSITY AWARD goes to:

HUMILITY
Award is given to the child who develops an awareness of his value and the others’, the
knowledge of his/her strength & weaknesses, thus recognizing the significance of the people
that makes up his & her environment. The ability to obey the adults makes him/her realize
that he/she still need to be guided accordingly so self-respect & respect for others is being
developed. The HUMILITY AWARD goes to the following students:

ORDERLINESS
Award is given to the child who learns to keep the environment in a clean and ordered way,
putting everything away in its right place. He/she learns to approach each new task in an
ordered way, carry it out, and complete it. He/she learns to clean up and put everything
away, thus developing logical thinking. His/her being orderly is therefore beneficial to
himself/herself as an individual and at the same time, the group benefits as well itself. The
ORDERLINESS AWARD goes to the following students.

SOCIAL GRACE and COURTESY


The development of social skills, grace & courtesy of the child, help him/her learn the
acceptable behavior of his own & other cultures. The SGC AWARD is given to the child
who, during the exercises, is very dynamic & interactive in dramatic play while performing
the roles scripted for the Grace & Courtesy lessons. The SOCIAL SKILLS, GRACE and
COURTESY AWARD goes to the following students.

CHEERFULNESS
Award is given to the child who has a balanced outlook in life. He/she manages to smile
and always in a happy disposition even frustrations and disappointments come his/her way.
This attitude inspires others. He/she has a light heart towards the people around that brings
joy in the atmosphere, demonstrably content & working calmly. A very well-spirited
individual that transcends happiness. The CHEERFULNESS AWARD goes to the following
students:

INDEPENDENCE

Every child is exposed to a prepared environment which encourages him to work out on his
own which enable him to become an independent being. The independence award is given
to the child for having shown a skill, he/she strives for freedom to practice and perfect it. He
learns the skills he needs to achieve an end thus, developing his initiative. The concept
applies not only to physical sphere but also to the intellectual and emotional ones as well.
The INDEPENDENCE AWARD goes to:

PERFORMING ARTS AWARD


Smallville Montessori is conferring PERFORMING ARTS AWARD to a student who has
developed maximum potential in theater arts. The school recognizes the excellent
performing skills, creativity and confidence of this student in portraying roles, communicating
ideas, expressing emotions and delivering lines using sophisticated but appropriate words to
convey message, thoughts & feelings. The Performing Arts Award goes to:

LOYALTY AWARD
Smallville Montessori values LOYALTY. This category, LOYALTY AWARD recognizes the
children who have finished the full cycle of learning at Smallville Montessori and is given to
the graduating students. The LOYALTY AWARD goes to the following students:

ACADEMIC PROMOTION
Smallville Montessori fosters academic skills that are superior and advanced. The
development of each child is unique and distinctive. The school determines promotion of
each child to a higher and more complex level of learning based on his mastery of social &
scholastic skills and psychological readiness. This year we are promoting 2 students from
Cycle 1 to Cycle 3.

Promotion of students does not only involve excellence in the academic program but must
also demonstrate competence and readiness in other areas of learning like social,
emotional, psycho-motor and adaptive skills. The child must be utterly capable to adjust to
the next level to make the learning fun, non-threatening and spontaneous. Moving up to
Cycle 1 to Cycle 3 school year 2023-2024 – let’s give a hand to:
