List of problems:
Problem 1. The sum of two positive integers is 7 times their difference. The product of the same
two numbers is 36 times their difference. What is the larger one of these two numbers?
Problem 2. Anna starts writing down all the prime numbers in order, 235711.... She stops after she
has written down ten prime numbers. She now removes 7 of the digits, and treats what is left as a
9-digit number. What is the maximum value of this number?
Problem 3. How many 5-digit numbers are there whose product of digits is 2016?
Problem 4. When a two-digit number is increased by 4, the sum of its digits is equal to half of the
sum of the digits of the original number. How many possible values are there for such a two-digit
number?
Problem 5. Twenty girls stood in a row facing right. Four boys joined the row, but facing left. Each
boy counted the number of girls in front of him. The numbers were 3, 6, 15 and 18 respectively. Each
girl also counted the number of boys in front of her. What was the sum of the numbers counted by
the girls?
Problem 6. Pencils of the same shape and size are placed in a big container. There are 9 different
colors and 75 pencils in each color. What is the minimum number of pencils that must be drawn
from the container to ensure that the pencils are of at least 5 different colors with at least 10 pencils
for each color?
Problem 8. Using each of four distinct non-zero digits once, we can construct 24 different four-digit
numbers. The second smallest of the numbers is a multiple of 5. The second largest is even but not
divisible by 4. The positive difference between the fifth smallest number and the fifth largest number
lies between 3000 and 4000. What is the maximum value of the largest of the 24 numbers?
Problem 9. A special calculator contains a red button, which counts the number of even digits of an
integer. For instance, when the screen shows 2022, pressing the red button gives 4 since all 4 digits
of 2022 are even. Someone inputs a positive integer into the calculator and keeps pressing the red
button until 0 is displayed on the screen. If 0 is first displayed after the red button has been pressed
exactly four times, let n be the smallest value of such a number. Find the number of divisors of n.
Problem 10. The diagram below is made from quarter circles on a square grid with divisions 7 cm
22
apart. What is the total area of the shaded region in cm2 ? [Take π = ]
7
Problem 12. Someone obtained a positive integer n by concatenating the positive integers from 1
to 100000 in order, i.e. n = 123456789101112...9999899999100000. How many times does ‘2022’
appear as consecutive digits of n?
Problem 13. Two squares of a 5 × 5 table are painted red and the rest are left unpainted. Two color
schemes are equivalent if one can be obtained from the other by applying a rotation. How many
non-equivalent color scheme are there?
