HR Interview Questions and Answers

Tell me about yourself.

I am Elias Khalil, a Computer and Communication Engineering student at Notre Dame
University, Lebanon, expecting to graduate in 2025. I have a strong foundation in software
and hardware systems, with hands-on experience in programming, networking, and
embedded systems. I have completed internships at Dviz Technology as a web scraper and
at Park Innovation as a junior developer, where I worked on data scraping, API
development, and research projects.

Beyond academics, I have held leadership roles as the President of University Pastoral and a
troop leader in Scouts du Liban, which have enhanced my teamwork and leadership skills. I
am passionate about problem-solving, continuous learning, and applying my technical
knowledge to real-world challenges.

Why did you choose Computer and Communication Engineering?

I have always been fascinated by how technology connects people and drives innovation.
Computer and Communication Engineering offers a perfect blend of hardware and software,
allowing me to work on embedded systems, programming, and networking. During my
studies and internships, I realized how much I enjoy solving complex problems and
developing solutions that can optimize processes and enhance communication technologies.

What have you learned during your time at Notre Dame University?
My education at Notre Dame University has given me a solid foundation in computer
systems, programming, and networking. I have developed strong skills in languages like
Java, Python, and C++, as well as experience with tools like MATLAB, PostgreSQL, and
Docker. Additionally, I have learned about microprocessors, embedded systems, and data
structures, which have been essential in my internships and projects.

Tell us about your internship at Dviz Technology.

During my internship at Dviz Technology, I worked as a web scraper, extracting data from
various websites like LinkedIn, Carrefour, and Twitter. I used Python libraries such as
Scrapy, BeautifulSoup, and Selenium to automate data collection and processing. I also built
APIs to retrieve specific datasets and performed data cleaning using Python. This
experience helped me strengthen my coding skills and understand how to work with large
amounts of data efficiently.

How did your internship at Park Innovation help you grow professionally?
My internship at Park Innovation allowed me to work as a junior developer, where I
designed posters, conducted research and development, and contributed to program
planning. This role helped me develop both my technical and creative skills while improving
my ability to work collaboratively with a team. I also gained experience in managing
projects and thinking critically about problem-solving strategies.

Which programming language are you most comfortable with? Why?

I am most comfortable with Python because I have used it extensively for web scraping, API
development, and automation. My internship at Dviz Technology required me to work with
Scrapy, BeautifulSoup, and Selenium, which deepened my understanding of data processing.
Additionally, Python’s versatility makes it an excellent language for solving complex
problems efficiently.

Can you explain a challenging project you worked on and how you solved the
problem?
During my internship at Dviz Technology, I had to scrape data from websites with anti-bot
protections. The challenge was to bypass these restrictions without violating ethical
guidelines. I solved this problem by using Selenium to simulate human interactions and
rotating user agents to avoid detection. Additionally, I implemented data cleaning
techniques to ensure accuracy. This experience taught me how to approach technical
challenges strategically and find efficient solutions.

Tell us about a time you worked with a team on a technical problem.

As a troop leader in Scouts du Liban, I worked with my team to organize events that
required extensive coordination. From a technical perspective, during my internship at Park
Innovation, I collaborated with a team on research and development tasks, ensuring that
our program plans were well-structured and effective. These experiences taught me the
value of communication, delegation, and adaptability when working on technical and
leadership challenges.
As President of University Pastoral, what challenges did you face, and how did
you overcome them?

I prioritize tasks based on urgency and importance, breaking them into manageable steps.
When under pressure, I stay organized by using to-do lists and scheduling my time
effectively. During my internships, I often had to meet tight deadlines while working on data
scraping and development tasks, so I learned to stay focused and efficient under pressure.
Additionally, I find that taking short breaks and maintaining a positive mindset helps me
manage stress effectively.

Why should we hire you?

I believe my combination of technical expertise, problem-solving skills, and leadership
experience makes me a strong candidate. My background in programming, data processing,
and embedded systems, along with my internships at Dviz Technology and Park Innovation,
