CORRELATION

Correlation analysis is a statistical technique employed in describing the relationship between


two or more variables. In a correlation study, data are usually arranged in pairs ( X I ,Y I ¿.

The scatter diagram


The scatter diagram is a graphical display of the dataset to be investigated. It usually give a
visual image of the relationship to be studied.

1. The Pearson product moment correlation coefficient (r)


2. Spearman rank order correlation coefficient (r)

Correlation values
 A correlation value of 0 indicates no relationship
 A correlation value of -1 indicates perfect negative relationship
 A correlation value of +1 indicates perfect positive relationship
