B. Analysis

Our lesson for today is about polygons.


Polygon is a closed plane figure made up of
3 or more line segments. Each line segment
is a side. Each point where two sides meet is
called a vertex. VERTEX

An angle is formed by the intersection of two


straight lines at a point.
Polygons are named for the number of sides
they have.
These are the polygons:

Can you count its sides? Yes Ma’am.
Okay let’s count. 1, 2, 3.
How many sides are there in a triangle? 3 Ma’am.
Very good! And how many angles does a
triangle have? 3 also.
And the polygon with 3 sides is called what? A triangle.

Another one is a quadrilateral.


How many sides does a quadrilateral have? 1, 2, 3, 4.
Count its sides.
So, how many sides does quadrilteral have?
How do we call a 4 sided polygon?
4 sides.
A 4 sided polygon is called a quadrilateral.

How about this one? Let’s count its sides. 1, 2, 3, 4, 5. It has 5 sides.
Very good! We call the polygon with 5
sides a PENTAGON.
How do we call a 5 sided polygon? A 5 sided polygon is called Pentagon.

And this one, everybody, count its sides. 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6. 6 Ma’am.


Very good! How about its angles? It has 6 angles too.
A polygon with 6 sides is called a hexagon.
How do we call a 6 sided polygon?
A 6 sided polygon is called Hexagon.
Another polygon is heptagon.
Let’s count its sides to know why it is 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7. It has 7 sides.

Very good! Heptagon has 7 sides.
How do we call a 7 sided polygon? A 7 sided polygon is called Heptagon.

Next type of polygon is called OCTAGON.

Octagon has 8 sides.
How do we call a 8 sided polygon? The 8 sided polygon is called Octagon.

Another polygon is called NONAGON.


It has 9 sides.
Let’s count it all together. 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9.
How do we call a 9 sided polygon? A 9 sided polygon is called Nonagon.

Next type of polygon is called DECAGON.


Let’s count its sides. 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10.
How many sides does decagon have?
10 sides Ma’am.
How do we call a 10 sided polygon?
A 10 sided polygon is called Decagon.

This is the other type of polygon called 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11.


UNDECAGON. Lets count to know its sides.
Very good! It has 11 sides.
How do we call a 11 sided polygon? The 11 sided polygon is called Undecagon.

Lastly is the DODECAGON. It is a 12


sides polygon.

How do we call a 12 sided polygon?


A 12 sided polygon is called Dodecagon.
