POLITICAL GEOGRAPHY
The continent has a long history of empires,
nation-states, and political boundaries that
have been shaped by war, diplomacy, and
economic forces. Europe is a complex tapestry
woven from individual nation-states and a
powerful supranational organization, the
European Union (EU).

The European Union (EU) is a major force in

European political geography. The EU is a
political and economic union of 27 member
states that are located primarily in Central
and Western Europe. The EU has a single
market, a common currency (the euro), and a
number of common policies.

POLITICAL GEOGRAPHY
Most European countries are individual
nation-states with their own governments.
These governments come in various forms:

Parliamentary Republics:
These are the most common, with a Prime
Minister holding executive power and a
Parliament elected by the people like in
Germany and Italy.

Constitutional Monarchies:
A monarch reigns as head of state, but
the Prime Minister holds real power
like in United Kingdom and Spain.
