Project Brief: Family Safety & Tracking App

1. Project Overview
In Nigeria, especially in the northern region, kidnapping and missing person cases are a growing
concern. Families often worry about their loved ones' safety, especially when they travel or move
between locations. This project challenges students to design a simple and user-friendly mobile
app that helps family members track each other's location in real time and receive alerts if a
member derails from their expected route.

The app should not be overloaded with features—instead, it should focus on the core
functionality of route tracking and emergency alerts to ensure ease of use and effectiveness.

2. Problem Statement
"Families in Nigeria, particularly in the northern region, face the growing challenge of
insecurity and kidnapping. Many people travel daily for work, school, or business, and their
loved ones often worry about their safety. There is a need for a simple, reliable solution that
allows family members to monitor each other’s location and get alerted if someone goes off their
expected route. This app will provide a sense of security and a quick way to respond in case of
emergencies."

3. Project Goals & Objectives


Goals:

 To create a simple app that allows families to track each other's locations in real time.
 To provide an alert system if a user goes off their planned route.
 To ensure privacy and security while tracking.

Objectives:

 Allow users to set a planned route before a trip.


 Notify family members if a user derails from the planned route.
 Include an SOS button for emergencies.
 Keep the interface clean and easy to use, focusing on core features.
4. Target Audience (Users)
 Families, especially parents tracking their children.
 Students who travel between school and home.
 Commuters and workers traveling between locations.
 Business travelers who frequently move between cities.

5. Key Features (MVP - Minimum Viable Product)


The app should be simple, focusing on essential features only:

Core Features:

✅ Live Route Tracking – Users can share their real-time location with family members.
✅ Set Planned Route – Users can set their destination before traveling.
✅ Deviation Alert – If a user strays too far from their route, family members get notified.
✅ SOS Button – A quick emergency button to send an alert with the user's location.
