Community Street Clean-Up Drive

A clean and orderly environment is essential for the well-being of a community. With this in
mind, the residents of Purok Pagkakaisa, in collaboration with students from local schools,
participated in a Community Street Clean-Up Drive to promote environmental responsibility
and unity. This initiative, spearheaded by barangay officials and supported by teachers, parents,
and volunteers, aimed to instill a sense of cleanliness and discipline, especially among the
younger generation. The clean-up drive began early in the morning, with students, teachers,
barangay officials, and community members gathering at the designated meeting point. After a
brief orientation on proper waste disposal and safety measures, participants were provided
with cleaning materials such as brooms, dustpans, garbage bags, and gloves. The students, eager
to contribute, were divided into groups and assigned to different areas, ensuring that every street
and pathway in Purok Pagkakaisa was covered. As the activity commenced, students worked
alongside residents to sweep the streets, collect trash, and remove debris. The presence of young
volunteers made the event more lively and inspiring, as they enthusiastically took part in the
clean-up while learning the value of community service. Teachers and barangay officials guided
them, reinforcing the importance of maintaining cleanliness not just during organized activities
but as an everyday responsibility. Beyond cleaning, the event served as an opportunity to educate
students about proper waste segregation, recycling, and environmental sustainability.
Barangay officials encouraged them to practice these habits at home and in school, emphasizing
that small actions, when done collectively, can lead to a significant impact. By the end of the
activity, the streets of Purok Pagkakaisa were noticeably cleaner, and the spirit of unity among
residents and students had grown stronger. The success of this clean-up drive proved that when
different sectors of the community come together—young and old alike—positive change is
possible. The Community Street Clean-Up Drive not only improved the physical environment
of Purok Pagkakaisa but also instilled a deeper sense of responsibility and civic engagement
among the students. Moving forward, the barangay aims to continue partnering with schools for
similar initiatives, ensuring that the values of cleanliness, cooperation, and environmental
stewardship are passed on to future generations.
