Introduction

Hello Professor and classmates!

Today, our group will be presenting about recycling and the "zero waste" trend in
modern life. With natural resources becoming limited and pollution levels rising,
finding sustainable ways to live has become very important. Each year, the world
produces over 2 billion tons of solid waste, and experts predict this could increase
to 3.4 billion tons by 2050 if we don't change our habits.

In our presentation, we'll explore two important movements that are changing how
people consume products and manage waste: "Recycling" and "Zero Waste."
These concepts are more than just environmental practices - they represent new
lifestyles that benefit our communities and planet.

We'll cover four main topics: the basics of recycling, the growing zero waste
movement, practical applications in everyday life, and future directions for these
trends. We hope that after our presentation, we'll all have a better understanding of
our environmental impact and feel motivated to make positive changes in our daily
routines.
I. Definition of recycling: recycling is the process of
reprocessing waste to create new products, reduce
pollution, and conserve resources.
II. Benefits of recycling

Reduces Emissions – Recycling helps lower greenhouse

gas emissions by reducing the need for raw material
extraction and manufacturing, which are energy-intensive
processes.

Healthy Ecosystem – By minimizing waste and pollution,

recycling contributes to a cleaner environment, which
supports biodiversity and ecosystem health.

Conserve Resources – Recycling reduces the need to

extract and process natural resources such as wood,
water, and minerals, helping to preserve them for future
generations.

Saves Energy – Using recycled materials in production

requires significantly less energy compared to producing
new materials from raw resources.
Saves Money – Recycling can lower production costs for
businesses and reduce waste disposal expenses for
households and governments.

Eco Awareness – Encouraging recycling promotes

environmental consciousness and responsible
consumption, leading to more sustainable living habits.

Use Less Landfill – Recycling reduces the amount of

waste sent to landfills, which helps conserve land space
and minimizes harmful environmental impacts.

Creates Jobs – The recycling industry generates

employment opportunities in collection, processing, and
manufacturing industries.

Supports Relations – Recycling programs encourage

community participation, fostering cooperation and
environmental responsibility among people.

Domestic Market – Recycling supports local industries by

providing raw materials and promoting a circular
economy, which benefits local businesses and economies.
III. Definition of “Zero Waste”: Zero Waste" is a lifestyle
aimed at eliminating waste by reducing, reusing, and
recycling as much as possible

IV. Illustration of the 5R Principles

Refuse – Avoid single-use plastics.
Reduce – Shop smart to minimize waste.
Reuse – Repurpose items instead of discarding them.
Recycle – Properly sort and recycle waste.
Rot – Compost organic waste into fertilizer
V. Global Zero Waste Trends
Businesses: Companies like Starbucks, H&M, and Unilever
are shifting to sustainable models.
Governments: Many countries ban plastic bags and
impose taxes on plastic waste.
Communities: Green living movements and zero-waste
stores are growing.
VI. Applying Zero Waste in Life:
- Green Consumption Habits
- Sort & Recycle Waste at Home
- Use Recycled Products
- Sustainable Fashion

VII. Recycling Technology & Zero Waste in the Future

- New Technologies Optimizing Recycling & Waste
Reduction
o Bioplastics: Made from starch, algae, and
sugarcane pulp, biodegradable, and a
sustainable alternative to traditional plastics.
o E-waste Recycling: Recovering components from
old phones and computers, extracting valuable
metals.
o Advanced Waste Treatment Technology: AI-
powered waste sorting machines and Waste-to-
Energy technology.
o Plastic-Degrading Enzymes: Using bacteria or
enzymes to break down plastic faster than
natural processes.
o Chemical Recycling Technology: Converting
plastic waste into petrochemical feedstock for
new plastic production.
o Eco Bricks: Using recycled plastic to make
construction bricks, reducing plastic waste.
