30 MAIN

ORIENTATION
CLASS 6
WELCOMING 2022-23
On behalf of our entire school community, we welcome you to LGS 30 Main. We are excited to be an important
part of your child’s educational journey. Our mission is to create a positive learning environment that will
promote academic achievement at each student’s individual level. We encourage healthy interactions while
fostering a love for learning.

This is an immensely important time in your child’s life. The routines and work habits established during these
years are essential in setting a solid foundation for Senior School and beyond. In addition to a rigorous
academic curriculum, students can explore a variety of extracurricular activities. These include Art, Music,
Performing Arts, Games, Gym, Aerobics and Wonder Web Program. Through these, students develop creativity,
physical agility, and problem solving skills, enabling them to apply what they have learned in the classroom
while also exploring new areas of interests.

We at 30 Main believe that a school is a partnership between the staff, the students and the parents. We look
forward to working closely with you in creating a safe and nurturing community where our students will thrive.
Academics

At 30 Main, we work together to create an exciting learning

environment for our students. Our aim is to assist them in
becoming lifelong learners, global thinkers and conscientious
individuals capable of making responsible life decisions.

For Class VI, the curriculum aims to provide the students with a
more holistic learning experience that aligns with the
international curricula, including the Cambridge Primary
Framework.

We foster an environment that promotes inquiry, encourages

questioning, and offers guidance to help our students flourish.
Through our curriculum, we hope to support the development of
critical and logical thinking skills, along with a passion for
learning and discovery. Collaborative learning is at the heart of
our educational philosophy. We encourage our students to
explore the world by providing them with numerous
opportunities to work together, settle conflicts and respect each
other’s perspectives to understand the importance of teamwork.

Assessment Policy

There are no formal exams till Class 7. At the end of each term, reports are generated based on the student's performance
throughout the term. These reports are compiled using the student's formal and informal assessment data, and class
performance.
Informal Assessments:
The data of these assessments is gathered by the teachers regularly via a variety of sources such as daily assignments,
quizzes, day to day observations, presentations and projects.

Formal Assessments:
These written assessments are conducted at least once a month for each subject, and the subject teachers inform the students
about the schedule and topics of the assessment. The primary purpose of these assessments is to keep a record of a student’s
performance. They help the teachers to determine the student's strengths and weaknesses in their achievement of the
curriculum expectations in each subject.

Result:
A student’s result is compiled based on the marks obtained in the monthly assessments, attendance, work submission
(classwork as well as homework), and class participation.

Academic Standing:
The minimum percentage required by a student to pass English, Urdu, Science, Social Studies is 50%, and for Math, it’s 55%. If
a student falls below the passing percentage in one or more compulsory subjects, a meeting will be held with the parents to
discuss the areas that require more work and her performance will be monitored. If we still find that the student is struggling in
one or more core subjects, she may be asked to repeat the year or be given a Next Year Decisive (NYD) letter. If the student
continues to do poorly in her decisive year, she may be asked to repeat her current grade level.
Missed Assessments

The school does not allow students to reschedule or retake

assessments.

The only exception to this policy is if a student is unwell and the school receives a
written sick-leave application. One Saturday a month will be allocated for the retests.
Students will be allowed to take a retest for a maximum of three subjects in a month. If
the student misses the retake, she will not be given another chance to sit for those
assessments.

If it is observed that a student frequently misses her assessments and avails the Saturday
retest option, the school reserves the right not to allow the retest option to such a student.
