GROUP ASSIGNMENT SPVV201: SOCIAL PSYCHOLOGY

Social psychology made significant and outstanding scientific contributions to human sciences by
thoroughly providing insights into human social behavior through conducting experiments and analysis.

Through these experiments, principles and theories of human behavior and psychological functioning
have been established. To this day, social psychologists continue to provide insightful interpretation and
analysis of human social behavior thereby promoting policies and services.

In this assignment, you are required to do the following.

1) Select a contemporary incident that captured social interest and curiosity (not older than 3 years – from
2022). This incident may have occurred in the public or private spaces and have raised inquisitiveness and
interests within the society. You may select the incident from a TV documentary, breaking news,
newspaper article or trending on social media relevant to our context. For example.
 Jail Break
 GBV incident
 Xenophobia attacks
 Bullying incident leading to the victim committing suicide
 Stabbing of teacher
 Violence and aggression
 Mob justice
 Taxi violence
 Day light public robbery
 Racism/discrimination
 etc

Kindly note the following important information regarding the assignment:

1) The assignment will account for 30% of your overall DP mark.


2) The assignment will be undertaken in groups of 6-8 members.
3) Assignment must be well organised and have a flow. Make use of tittles and subtitles. You are welcome to
use your own creativity (pictures).
4) You are responsible for ensuring that you negotiate membership of a group. Class rep will assist with this.
5) Please do not e-mail the lecturer to assign you to a group. If you have a challenge in finding a group
resolve it in the provided chat platforms.
6) You must retain a copy of your assignment in the event of any problems that may arise.
7) Each group must select a group leader who collect inquires and relay them to the lecturer. The leader will
also take responsibility of submitting the assignment.
8) Your assignment must make use of in-text referencing and compile a reference list that demonstrates your
understanding of the APA referencing style.
9) The content of the assignment should not exceed 10 A4-pages (1.5 spacing, Arial Font size - 12).
10) Must include a list of references quoted in the assignment using the APA referencing style.
11) Assignment must be submitted on Moodle; NO LATE SUBMISSION WILL BE
ACCOMMODATED.
