Dr. Srabani Das Chakraborty, a 49-year-old female, tested positive for SARS-CoV-2 using a real-time RT-PCR test conducted on January 7, 2022. The test results indicated a cycle threshold value of 13.00 for the N gene and 16.00 for the ORF 1ab gene, with the specimen quality deemed good. The report emphasizes the importance of correlating test results with clinical findings and recommends treatment and contact tracing for positive cases.

Real time RT-PCR test report for detection of SARS-CoV-2 (COVID-19 virus)
Cycle threshold value of the
Test Name Result
target genes
Gene Value
Real time RT-PCR test (qualitative) for
detection of SARS-CoV-2 (COVID-19 POSITIVE N gene : : 13.00
virus) ORF 1ab gene : : 16.00
Method: TaqMan probe Real-Time fluorescent RT-PCR technology performed using Bio-Rad CFX96 Maestro.

Specimen details
Specimen: Nasopharyngeal & oropharyngeal swab Quality of specimen on arrival: Good (in cold chain)

Interpretation of test results:

Result Interpretation
Positive : Detection of RNA specific to SARS-CoV-2 (based on the CT cut-off criteria of the reaction)
Negative : Not detection of RNA specific to SARS-CoV-2 within the limit of detection of the assay
Inconclusive : The presence of RNA specific to SARS-CoV-2 is not certain. Repeat sampling and testing is
recommended.
NOTE:

ICMR Registration Number for COVID-19 testing: MEDLHWB

The test is conducted using the kits and viral transport media (VTM) approved by ICMR/USFDA.
SARS-CoV-2 RT PCR test is an in vitro test for qualitative detection of Novel Corona Virus 2019 in upper
respiratory tract specimens. All results of the test should be correlated with clinical findings.
A single negative test result, particularly from the upper respiratory tract specimen, does not preclude
Covid-19 infection.
A number of factors could lead to a negative result in an Covid infected individual.

1. The specimen was not handled or shipped properly.

2. Presence of mutant strain of the virus, and/or the presence of inhibitors.
3. Insufficient viral RNA in the sample.
4. Poor quality of the specimen, containing inadequate material or non representative specimen.
5. Specimen was collected late or very early during the infection.

Treatment of all positive cases along with contact tracing is recommended.

This test is recommended to use along with clinical presentations and laboratory markers
(IL6, D-DIMER ) and HRCT.
Kindly consult referring physician / authorized hospital for appropriate follow up.
