6. How does this event or issue connect to something we have studied in World History? Explain.
This connects to the centuries-long case of discrimination, and not just with people of the LGBTQ+ community, but
also with african americans, asians, native americans, hispanics, etc. It frustrates me that our country, which is
supposed to represent equality, still can be so cruel to minorities, it’s a shame really.
7. What do you think about this news story? Write your opinion here. Explain in a minimum of 4-5 sentences.
(Your opinion may include what you learned from the story, & personal connections/views you have about the news)
In my opinion, this news story is very important for people to know. People need to know the truth of how LGBTQ+
people are being treated and how they feel about it. The survey that was used for this article was very informative
on the opinions of the LGBTQ+ community on not just the two main political parties and our President, but also
our Supreme Court, businesses, and medical organizations as well. It’s important people understand that we aren’t
just people with no opinion, we have something to say, and we’re gonna say it.
8. How does the article present different perspectives on the issue/event? Are there multiple viewpoints shared? Explain.
This article does not share multiple viewpoints, it only shares a singular viewpoint, which is that of the LGBTQ+
community. However, they do give their opinions on multiple topics such as discrimination in jobs, housing, and
public spaces, as well as medical care, trans athletes, etc.
9. What impact might this event/issue have on the future, based on what you learned in the article? Explain your thoughts.
With the impact of the constant growing feeling of oppression on the LGBTQ+ community on the rise, I predict that
there will be an increase in activism, both peaceful and violent, as well as the increase in hate crimes against
LGBTQ+ people.
10. Write down at least TWO questions you have related to the article topic that were not answered by the article.
What would’ve been the statistics on LGBTQ+ students' treatment in schools and by the education system?
