Detailed lesson Plan

I. Objectives:
At the end of the lesson the student should be able to:
a. Identify the different types of measuring tools and instrument,
b. Appreciate the use of the different types of measuring tools and instruments,
c. Demonstrate the proper handling and usage of different types of measuring tools and
instruments.
II. Subject Matter
Topic: Measuring tools and Instrument
References: Science textbook or technology and livelihood education (TLE) module.
Materials: Power point presentation, Laptop, electrical measuring tools and instrument
Values Integration: Responsible in using and maintaining tools.
III. Procedure
Teacher’s Activity Student’s Activity
A. Preliminary “Thank you, dear Lord, for the blessings of a
Class! Let us all stand let us pray. new day. We are grateful for your great love.
Miss jaca please lead the prayer. You are our hope and strength. Amen”

Good afternoon class! Good afternoon, sir Quilisadio

Before you take tour seat, please pick up “Students will pick up some garbage’s under
some pieces of papers under your chairs and their chairs and arrange the chairs properly”
please arrange your chairs proper.

How are you today? Were fine sir!

Well, that’s good to hear.

Is there anyone absent today? None sir.

Very good! Since all of you are present, I will Thank you, sir.
give you plus points for your attendance

Alright, please pass your assignment forward. “Students will pass their assignment “

Before we discuss our new lesson let set first Classroom rules:
our classroom rules. 1. Raise your right hand if you want to
answer.
2. raise your left hand if you have some
questions.
3. Don’t use cellphone during discussion
4. Listen to the teacher when he/she speaks

B. Recall or Review

Alright class, let’s have a short recap on our “Some students will raise their hand and
lesson. answer”

What was our lesson that yesterday? Sir yesterday we discussed about electrical
supplies and materials.

Are there any questions, clarifications None sir.

regarding on yesterday’s discussion?
Very good! That’s good to hear, I know you
understand what we’ve discussed yesterday
because you were listening carefully.

C. Motivation

So now, I will group you into two group. “The students will actively participate in the
activity”
And then try to look and search under your
armchair, I put something there, take it and
try to assemble and then stick it on the
manila paper and paste it on the board.

You have two (2) minutes to finish the activity

Times up!

Based on the picture you’ve assemble who

among you here can guess of what is our
topic that we are going to discuss this
afternoon.

Sir based on that picture, I guess our topic

Yes, miss Nica. today is all about measuring tools and
instruments.
Very good! That’s absolutely correct.
Let’s give her a barangay clap...

D. Presentation of the Lesson

So, class our topic for today is all about
Measuring tools and instruments.

But before we continue to out topic, let’s

have first our objectives:

Everybody please read the objectives. Objectives

At the end of the lesson the student should

be able to:

At the end of the lesson the student should

be able to:
a. Identify the different types of
measuring tools and instrument,
b. Appreciate the use of the different

c. Demonstrate the proper handling and
usage of different types of measuring tools
and instruments.
Alright class, who amongst you here have an
idea about measuring tools and instruments?

Yes, Mr. Junery

Very good that’s correct let’s give him an

amazing clap. Sir in my opinion, measuring tools and
instrument are things that use to measure
Do you know how to execute the amazing electrical current, height, weight, etc.
clap?

Well, it goes like this…

No sir.
Discussion / Lesson Proper
Measuring tools and instruments are
devices that measure physical quantities and “Students will actively participate on the
use to measure things like distances, sizes, activity”
electrical current, pressure, voltage, etc.

ELECTRICAL INTRUMENT

1. TEST LIGHT

-is a pocket size tool used to test the line wire

or circuit if there is current in it.

2. MICROMETER

- is used to measure the diameter of

wires/conductors in circular mils. It can
measure small and big sizes of wires and
cables.
3. AMMETER

- is an instrument used to measure the

amount of electrical current intensity in a
circuit. The unit of measure is ampere (a). It is
connected along or series to the circuit.

4. VOLTMETER

- is an instrument used to measure electrical

pressure or voltage of a circuit. The unit of
measure is volt (v). This is connected across
or parallel to the circuit.

5. VOLT-OHMETER (VOM)

-otherwise called as multi-tester; is used to

measure the voltage, resistance and current
of a circuit. It is connected in parallel or series
MEASURING TOOLS with the circuit depending on what to
measure.
1. RULER / FOOT RULE

- is a measuring tool used to measure length,

width and thickness of short flat object and in
sketching straight lines

2. PULL PUSH RULE

- is a measuring tool used to measure the

length of an object in centimeter and inches.
3. CLAMP AMMETER

- is also called tong-tester. It is used to

measure current flowing in a conductor. It is
clamped or hanged in a conductor.

4. WIRE GAUGE

- is used in determining the size of

wires/conductors.
-the gauge ranges from
0 to 60 awg (American wire gauge).

E. Generalization
Now I want to test if you really understand
our topic this morning.

What have you learned from our lesson?

who can define, of what is measuring tools Sir, I learned a lot of things, things that will
and instrument? help me improve my knowledge about
electrical measurement.
what are the different types of measuring
tools and instrument? Sir, measuring tools are devices that measure
physical quantities

Sir, measuring tools are Ruler / foot rule, pull

As a student, what is the Importance of push rule, clamp ammeter, and wire gauge.
knowing those measuring tool and And instrument are test light, micrometer,
instrument? ammeter, voltmeter, and volt-ohmmeter.

Sir, as a student I think knowing that kind of

tools and instrument are important because
it helps you develop practical skills, and
prepare for future careers.
F. Application
At this point let’s have a group activity.
I will divide you into three (3) groups. Each
group has different task to perform.

Group 1
Direction: Demonstrate the proper handling,
and usage of common measuring tool such as
PULL PUSH RULE AND CLAMP AMMETER.

Group 2
Direction: Demonstrate the proper handling,
and usage of common instrument such as
TEST LIGHT, AND AMMETER.

Group 3
Direction: Demonstrate the proper handling,
and usage of common instrument and
measuring tools such as RULER/FOOT RULE
AND VOLT-OMMETER.

All group have only five (5) minutes to

prepare the task. And choose only 3
members from the group to present the task
in front.

But before we continue let’s set first our

rubrics:

RUBRICS
COOPERATION 20 POINTS
TIMEBOUND 10 POINTS
CORRECTNESS 20 POINTS
TOTAL: 50 POINTS
Before I give the score in each group, please
arrange your chairs properly.

Very good, you’ve all got the passing scores.

Everyone! Let’s execute the meow2x clap. “The students will actively participate the
activity”

IV. Evaluation
To assess your ability to identify the different types of measuring tools and instrument.
Instruction: Read each question carefully. Each questions provides a description or uses of a
