Guide ArcGIS

The document outlines the process of merging raster datasets and performing watershed delineation using a Digital Elevation Model (DEM). It includes steps for adding rasters, checking coordinate systems, filling DEMs, generating flow direction and accumulation, creating pour point data, delineating watersheds, and converting raster data to vector formats. Finally, it describes extracting streams and DEMs specific to the watershed area.

Merge Rasters :

 Add rasters
 Check their coordinate system
 Arc toolbox Data Management Tools  Raster  Raster dataset  Create raster dataset
Create new folder, create raster dataset with tif. Extension, Pixel type : 16 BIT UNSIGNED,
same special reference for raster
 A new empty layer (Dataset) is created and displayed, remove it
 Raster  Raster dataset  Mosaic
 Add all rasters in the Input Rasters, choose the created raster dataset in the Target Raster,
Ignore Backgroud Value : 0, No Data Value : 0, then click OK
 The merged raster will be displayed

Watershed Delineation using DEM

 Filling the DEM
Spatial Analyst Tools  Hydrology  Fill
Choose DEM and create a new file and a new raster, then OK
 Generating Flow Direction form DEM
Input raster : Filled DEM, then create a new raster for flow direction, then OK
 Generating flow accumulation from flow direction
Input the flow direction raster, then create flow accumulation raster, then OK
 Creating feature pour point data
Go to catalog and watershed file, right-click and create new shapefile, Name : Outlet, Feature
type : Point, then choose the same spatial reference System
Start editing outlet, then create a point on the outlet of the DEM accumulation
 Delineating Watershed
Spatial Analyst Tools  Hydrology  Watershed
Input flow direction raster and feature pour point data, then create a new watershed raster,
then OK
 Defining the streams of the watershed
Spatial Analyst Tools  Map Algebra  Raster calculator
“FlowAcc”>300, then create streams
 Conversion to Vector (both watershed and stream)
Conversion Tools  From Raster Raster to Polygon
Input watershed raster, and create watershed_V, then OK
Conversion Tools  From Raster Raster to Polyline
Input Stream raster, and create stream_V, then OK
 Extracting streams of the watershed
Analysis Tools  Extract Clip
Input Streams_V, clip features : watershed_V
 Extracting the DEM of the watershed
Spatial Analyst Tools  Extraction  Extract by Mask
Input The original raster, input raster or feature mask : Watershed_V, and create your new
DEM
