ABET Abstract

This thesis investigates the perceptions of criminology students at the University of Eastern Philippines Laoang Campus regarding prostitution during the 2022-2023 academic year. It employs a descriptive correlational research design, analyzing data from 217 respondents to explore the relationship between their demographic profiles and their views on prostitution. The findings indicate that respondents have a 'moderate' perception of prostitution, with significant correlations found between their profiles and perceptions.

TITLE : PERCEPTION OF CRIMINOLOGY STUDENTS IN


THE UNIVERSITY OF EASTERN PHILIPPINES
LAOANG CAMPUS; SCHOOL YEAR 2022 – 2023

This study was conducted to determine the perception on

prostitution of criminology students in the University of

Eastern Philippines Laoang Campus, School Year 2022 – 2023.

Specifically, this study aimed to know the profile of the

respondents in terms of Age, Civil Status, and Sex and year

level; to know the perception of the respondents on

prostitution; and the significant relationship between the

respondents’ profile and their perception on prostitution.

The study employed descriptive correlational method of

research design. The data was tabulated and analyzed, and

interpreted through the use of frequency counts and

percentage, weighted mean and Pearson correlational R.

The respondents of this study were the 217 Bachelor

Science of Criminology students of University of Eastern

Philippines Laoang Campus. The study utilized a

questionnaire patterned from the study Chua.

The relationship between the profile of the respondents

in terms of age, sex, and civil status and their perception

on prostitution was found significant while their profile in

terms of year level and their perception on prostitution was

found significantly related.

The findings revealed that the respondents has

“moderate” perceptions on prostitution.
