4. Difinitions
This area is located in an undeveloped suburb of the city and there are few other buildings in the
construction site area (The underlying pipeline needs to be checked and re-checked before each
section of excavation construction to prevent the old embedment pipeline have been dig a broken).
According to the Tender Documents, we can know the soil quality of this area is well.
The work includes site clearance,excavation,backfilling and compaction of trench, installation of uPVC
pipe, VC pipe,GRP pipe, manholes and relevant pipe fittings, connection to the existing lines, concrete
encasement, set warning tape, installation of manholes, and pipe connection to manhole.

7. Detailed Construction Sequence
7.1 Material Procurement
All the materials shall be inspected in accordance with the requirements of the Specification and
cannot be used unless they are proved qualified.

Drawing 7-1 Setting Out (Indicative)
Earth excavated is laid 1.5m away from the top line of the slope. To avoid trench collapse after
excavation and delaying the work progress, pipe installation is executed immediately after excavation
for trench.
The specific excavation width is shown in the section.
5
DRAWING 7-3 PIPE TRENCH DETAIL
The general trench section is as section A shows.
Section A
Where the underground water level is high, CHEC shall adopt an open channel using a sewage pump
for dewatering.
After excavations have been completed to the design level and, the trench formation compacted, the
Contractor shall issue a formal notice to the Engineer that the trench formation is ready between
designated points for inspection. The Engineer will without unreasonable delay inspect the said trench
formation, unless he considers it unnecessary and advises the Contractor accordingly. Any rejection of
trench formation will be confirmed in writing by the Engineer.

All material receiving inspection carried out and gets approved from ENGINEER.
Inspection and Test by the Manufacturer: Pipe and fittings shall be thoroughly inspected by the
manufacturer before delivery.
All pipes shall be inspection by a competent inspector employed by the purchaser
Receiving Inspection of Materials shall be conducted by QCI through MIR.
Storage, Handling and Preservation of Materials shall be maintained as per Manufacturer
Recommendations and project specification
Rejected pipe shall not be defaces, but shall be replaced by the manufacturer or seller without
additional cost, with pipe that meets the requirements of this specification
Quality Manager / Inspector shall monitor all activities to ensure that work is done as per
approved drawing.
Quality control inspector shall do all required inspections as per approved ITP and project
Specifications.
All the construction activities shall be done as per project specification and applicable Standards .
All the WIRs shall be submitted as per approved ITP.

Engineer.
9. Safety and Environment Management
9.1 General Policy
It is the general policy of CHEC to provide all employees, subcontractors and any other persons with
reason to attend our working place the following:
Safe access to and from the working place;
A safe place to work;
A safe system of work.
All CHEC staff involved in field work should constantly remind themselves of these requirements
and be aware that each of them has a role to play in bringing this about by the correct mental
approach. In particular, the following should be given careful consideration:
Maintain good housekeeping;
Teamwork is essential; be aware of the activities of others;
Whilst working be aware of where your colleagues are working;
8
Work in pairs whenever possible;
Adhere to safe working practices;
Plan and practice your escape routes and emergency procedures regularly;
9.2 Induction
Personnel on site shall undergo an initial site HSE induction from Contractor. Before entry to the
working areas are gained, this shall be site specific and details the hazards most likely present within
the site, the emergency procedures, and site-specific restrictions.
9.3 Personal Protective Equipment
Appropriate PPE shall always be worn by personnel when on site and involved in survey operations.
This will include, but not be limited to, coveralls, safety helmet, safety boots, and gloves if handling
wire or equipment.
Other items of PPE shall be worn as applicable.
9.4 Environment Protection
9.4.1 During surface clearance CHEC shall dispose vegetation and relevant rubbish to proper locations.
9.4.2 Upon slurry incurred during foundation excavation works, if not suitable for backfilling CHEC shall
dispose to proper locations.
9.4.3 During concrete casting CHEC shall strictly control the remaining concrete treatment and dump it
into proper locations.
9.4.4 CHEC shall check up all machinery equipment on a daily basis to avoid oil contamination.
9.4.5 Other requirements shall be referred to the Safety file.
