1. Objective

This method statement provides information concerning the method of construction to


ensure compliance with contract requirements, drawing, technical specification and quality
control to provide a successful installation, testing, and commissioning of the Installation of
uPVC Pipes.

• Scope

HAC shall supply and install in accordance with the specification of material and
workmanship of drainage & condensate piping.

HAC shall complete install works, testing, witness testing at the site by the engineer, testing
and commissioning of the drainage & plumbing work.

• Shop Drawings.

• Pipes are Al Amal uPVC Pipes.

• Fittings are EEPCO UPVC Fittings

• Joints are Solvent Cement

• Material Procurement, Handling and Storage

• Upon approval of the material and shop drawing submittals, Contractor shall survey the

QTY including fittings as per approved shop drawing and purchase the material as per

project schedule.

• Upon delivery to site, all pipes and fittings shall be stored indoor, in a clean, dry and

ventilated place.

• Revise supplier’s delivery to match with project schedule.

• Procedure of works

• HAC carries out works as per approved Method Statement, drawings etc.

• The working area shall be protected as per risk assessment and HS&E plan.

• Open an approved shop drawings. This shop drawings consist of approved

proofing activity should be done first before installation.

• Assign the location of pipes in the wall or floor that is exactly as mention on the approved

toilet details shop drawing. Mark with the line corresponds to the total area to bury the

pipe in the wall or floor (for lavatory and A/C drain).

• Use block cutter or simply portable grinder to cut a side of block continuously along the

line that had been marked. Absolute care should be done not to cut or damaged the pre-

installed pipe sleeves of fixture vents and A/C indoor unit.

• By using sharp- pointed steel rod and other proper chipping tools, chip the block side to

the thickness required to fix the sanitary pipes.

• Standard fittings and materials must be used and all pipes and fittings must be joined

using the approved glue. Sanitary tee fittings for vent be fixed inclined 45° or slope from

center line of pipe it serve.

• Level of the slab should be identified by surveyor before proceeding installation. Also

locate points as alternative reference point for pipe and pipe fittings installation.

• Install / layout the pipes at designated height, location and slopes (1% slope for sanitary

fixtures and 0.5% slope for A/C drain). Sanitary fixtures outlet location should also be

installed and identified.

• Connection of drainage pipes other than water closet drain (i.e. A/C drain, lavatory drain,

bathtub drain and shower tray drain) should be slope toward gully trap floor drain based

on the approved toilet details shop drawings.

• Absolute care should be imposed not to damage the water proofing upon installation.

• Install sleeves for pipes passing through the concrete walls. Put sealant in between the

pipes and sleeves.

• Check the pipes securely fixed, joint and capped before leak testing.

• Test

• Leak test for the installed pipes is to be carried-out with presence of inspector Engineer.

• Cap end or plug as required and fill with water to produce 1.5 meters head (if applicable)

at highest point of section tested. Let stand with no loss of level for a period of four hours.

After the approval of Inspector Engineer, cover the pipes with cement plaster or sand to
where it is applicable
