Handouts for presentation stage:

DUOLINGO

Duolingo is a gamified app that breaks language learning into bite-sized, game-like exercises, covering vocabulary, grammar, pronunciation, and
comprehension skills. It is designed to be highly engaging, allowing learners to earn points, unlock new levels, and set daily goals to stay consistent. Lessons
focus on repetition and mastery, making it easy for users to gradually build their language skills. One advantage of Duolingo is its accessibility—since lessons
are short and focus on everyday language, learners can practice anywhere, anytime. By simulating a game, Duolingo helps users stay motivated and engaged,
especially those who thrive on routine practice and enjoy a structured learning environment.

YOUTUBE

YouTube provides a massive library of free resources for language learners, covering everything from beginner basics to advanced fluency. Numerous channels
feature language experts, native speakers, and educators who produce language-focused videos, such as pronunciation guides, conversation practice, and
cultural insights. One key benefit of YouTube is that it allows learners to experience language as it is naturally spoken, helping them develop listening skills
and gain exposure to different accents and dialects. Channels like “Easy Languages” or “Learn French with Alexa” offer language lessons, while others, like
vloggers and travel channels, allow learners to immerse themselves in real-life situations. The ability to replay, pause, and slow down videos makes YouTube
ideal for learners who want to control their learning pace and explore authentic language use in a visual and auditory format.

NETFLIX

Netflix offers a unique, immersive way to learn languages through popular movies, series, and documentaries in the target language. Watching content intended
for native speakers exposes learners to natural language use, including regional accents, slang, and idiomatic expressions that textbooks often overlook. Using
subtitles is an effective way to reinforce new vocabulary, as learners can match spoken words with text, helping them follow along while improving
comprehension. Shows like “La Casa de Papel” (Money Heist) for Spanish or “Dark” for German provide compelling, authentic content that engages viewers
while subtly improving language skills. Many language learners find Netflix valuable for learning in context, as it combines storytelling with language
exposure, which can make vocabulary and expressions more memorable. For visual learners or those interested in culture, Netflix provides an ideal blend of
language immersion and entertainment.

TANDEM

Tandem is a language exchange app that connects learners with native speakers worldwide, creating opportunities for authentic conversations. Unlike
traditional lessons, Tandem allows learners to practice speaking and listening in a natural, conversational format. Users can connect with partners based on
language goals and preferences, choosing to communicate via text, audio, or video chat. A unique feature is the in-app correction tool, where partners can
correct each other’s sentences, fostering a supportive, collaborative environment. Tandem is especially useful for learners focused on conversational fluency, as
it provides real-time interaction and feedback, building confidence in speaking. Additionally, it encourages cultural exchange, as users often share customs,
traditions, and language nuances that deepen understanding. Tandem is ideal for learners who want to improve their practical language skills, particularly those
aiming for conversational proficiency.
