SCHOOL READING PROGRAM
RATIONALE Reading aims learners want to improve both their general knowledge, which they may use in various academic areas, and their reading skills. With the aid of this exercise, we seek to lessen the sense of helplessness that may contribute to problems with behavior motivation. The goal of this reading program is to improve each student's reading proficiency and contribute to the promotion of a reading culture. Daluga Elementary School initiate (READ) Read Every day to Attain your Dreams program intended to improve the learner’s literacy skills or help learners enjoy the beauty of reading. The school Reading Remediation is a year-round activity across grade levels (Grades 1 to 6). Reading assessment will be conducted during the first month of the school year via Philippine Informal Reading Inventory (Phi-IRI) and plot the different related activities in the implementation of the program. Reading coordinators in English and Filipino will give monthly assessment to these pupils. Post test will also be conducted a week before the culmination of the said program. One well-liked intervention technique for pupils who are having reading difficulties is guided reading. Using this method, the instructor helps a small group of students get better at reading. As the pupils read materials that are challenging for them, the teacher offers guidance and help. Pull out system will utilize teaching individually or in groups and targets academic difficulties that potentially hinder learning. The Kinder teacher utilize her vacant time on this reading intervention to facilitate learner needs. Reading aloud to each other is a strategy that frequently works. Using this approach, a learner reads out to a companion who offers encouragement and assistance with word sounds. Through this connection, children can strengthen their reading abilities and form bonds with encouraging friends. GOALS: To enhance the needed skills of each pupil in reading and improve their comprehension skills To release the potential of every pupil recipient and help them gain confidence in studies To create opportunities for all reader learners to be part of READ program and be a volunteer in the schools remedial reading activities The program will be implemented through phasing; Phase 1 Conducting Pre – Assessment – identify the students who will be included in each category. Phase 2 Applying reading intervention program using the contextualized reading materials Phase 3 Conducting Post – Assessment. Beneficiaries Learners at Daluga Elementary School who were determined to require reading intervention are the program's beneficiaries. The Phil-Iri Pre-test results served as the foundation for this. Passages with enrichment tasks are also provided to students at the autonomous level during this time. Even though lower grades are not the program's primary focus, reading tasks were nonetheless provided to them to brighten their days. We have included them in the process of teaching reading since they form its foundation.
