GUIDELINES FOR WRITING A PROJECT
GUIDELINES FOR WRITING A PROJECT
A report is a written presentation of the work done by you on a given research topic. It is
important to bear in mind that even though the research thesis is submitted only at the end of
any given period, in reality it is a culmination of your continuous efforts.
Writing a Research Report: The management Program requires submission of research report
at the end of your final Semester. Care should be taken to ensure that the quality of the
research is of a high standard. General guidelines on writing a research report are described
below.

1.2. Objectives: It should bring out clearly the purpose of this project
Example:
Neelam (2017) has noted the impact of demonetisation in the textile industry of India.
Demonetisation has affected the textile jobs, overall production and productivity,
enhancing working capital limit, worker and cash crunch etc. The organised textile sector
has welcomed the demonetisation as it will result in transparency of business transactions
in the international market. But the cash crunch has affected the purchase of new cotton
which in turn has reduced the prices of the cotton in the short run.
Sreeshma, Aswamalika and Aparna (2018) have studied the impact of GST on
selected branded textile product based on a primary survey of 50 customers using a
questionnaire in Kochi. The responses have analysed based on frequency analysis
method. The main objective of the study is to know whether there is any change in the
preference for branded textiles and change in price of branded products after
implementation of GST. The relationship between price and quality to brand preference
has also been analysed. It has been found that there is no significant effect of GST on the
branded textiles and customers are purchasing their choice of product based on quality.
1.4 Research Design/Methodology: This section brings out how the enquiry was carried
out; interviews were carried out or if any questionnaire were given. It also looks at how
the respondents of the interview were chosen. The data should be presented in an
organized and logically sequenced method. Usually it has several sections grouped under
different headings and sub-headings. The descriptions of the activities leading to certain
conclusions are contained in this section.
+ Type of data
+ Sampling method

1.5 Need of the study- Mention the importance of the study either in 3-4 bullet points or in
2-3 sentences in a small paragraph. Mention how your study will be beneficial for the
society and to the company.
1.6 Limitation of the study – Problems faced during your study in 3 -4 bullet points (mainly
time and cost)
Chapter 1- Introduction

The results should be presented as simply as possible. There are several ways like Tables/
Graphs/ Pie charts/ Bar charts/ Diagrams

4. CONCLUSIONS AND/OR RECOMMENDATIONS:
4.1 Conclusion- The conclusions are the most important part of the research that is of
interest to the reader. Write in brief the conclusion you have drawn from your project looking
into the analysis and findings.
4.2 Suggestions - These are to be substantiated by the study done during the research period
through the analysis and interpretation of the data gathered. It would be helpful to the reader
if alternatives, other than the stated conclusions and/or recommendations are projected.
