Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets

In his second year at Hogwarts, Harry begins hearing strange voices in the
walls. Soon, students start turning to stone, and the school is threatened
with closure. Legend says the Chamber of Secrets has been opened,
releasing a monster that attacks Muggle-born students. Harry, Ron, and
Hermione investigate and discover that the Chamber was opened before,
fifty years ago. They suspect Draco Malfoy but later find clues that point
elsewhere. When Hermione is also attacked, Harry and Ron follow her
clues to learn about a creature called a basilisk. They find the entrance to
the Chamber in the bathroom haunted by Moaning Myrtle. Inside, Harry
faces the young memory of Tom Riddle, who is actually a teenage
Voldemort. Harry defeats the basilisk with the help of Fawkes,
Dumbledore’s phoenix, and destroys Riddle’s diary, which was controlling
events. Ginny Weasley, who had been possessed by the diary, is saved.
The school is safe once more. The book explores themes of bravery,
friendship, and the dangers of prejudice in the magical world.
