Water Resources

How can we develop innovative, smart, and sustainable

solutions to effectively manage water scarcity and meet the
future water needs of our country while minimizing
environmental impacts and ensuring equitable access for
all?
MAKING DAMS, LAKES, AND BARRAGES.
• Dams, lakes, and barrages are really important because they help us
manage water.
• They store water for times when we need it, like during dry periods, so we
always have enough for drinking and farming.
• They also stop floods by holding back extra water during heavy rains, which
keeps homes and crops safe.
• Dams can make electricity by using the flow of water, and lakes and
reservoirs give us places to enjoy activities like fishing and swimming.
• Plus, they create homes for animals.
• So, these structures help us use water wisely and protect us from problems
RECYCLE THE RAIN-WATER
• Recycling rainwater is important because it lets us use the
water that falls from the sky more wisely.
• Instead of letting it go to waste, we can collect it and use it for
things like watering plants, washing cars, or flushing toilets.
• This helps save our main water supplies for drinking and other
essential uses.
• It also helps reduce problems like flooding and erosion.
• So, recycling rainwater is a simple way to make sure we have
enough water and protect the environment.
RAIN WATER HARVESTING
• Rainwater harvesting is important because it helps us collect
and store rainwater for future use.
• This way, instead of letting the rainwater just run off and go to
waste, we can use it for things like watering plants or cleaning.
• It helps save our regular water supply for things we need most,
like drinking.
• It also helps prevent flooding and can be a good way to deal
with water shortages.
• So, rainwater harvesting is a smart way to make sure we have
enough water and keep our environment healthy.
WATER SAVING TECHNOLOGY TO UTILIZE
SEA\OCEAN WATER
• To save fresh water by using sea water, we have a few easy methods.
• Desalination takes the salt out of sea water so it can be used for
drinking.
• Solar stills use the sun’s heat to turn sea water into vapor, which then
becomes fresh water.
• Osmosis systems filter out the salt from sea water to make it fresh.
• Wave energy helps with the desalination process by using the power
of ocean waves.
• Finally, cooling buildings with cold sea water helps save fresh water
that would otherwise be used in air conditioning.
TAKING LESS WATER FROM THE GROUND
• To take less water from the ground, we can use a few simple strategies.
• Rainwater harvesting collects and stores rainwater from rooftops or other
surfaces for later use, so we don't need to rely as much on underground
water.
• Drip irrigation uses a system of tubes to deliver water directly to plant
roots, reducing water waste.
• Soil moisture sensors help farmers know exactly when and how much to
water their crops, avoiding overuse.
• Mulching covers the soil with materials like leaves or straw to keep
moisture in and reduce the need for extra watering.
• By using these methods, we can save ground water and use it more wisely.
EDUCATION AND AWARENCESS TO SAVE RAIN-WATER
• To save rainwater, education and awareness are key.
• Teaching people about rainwater harvesting helps them collect and
store rain for later use, reducing their need for tap water.
• Awareness campaigns can show the benefits of using rainwater for
watering gardens and flushing toilets.
• Simple steps like installing rain barrels and using rainwater-friendly
practices can make a big difference.
• By learning and spreading the word, we can all help conserve
rainwater and use it more wisely.
