Daily Journal
This was the day when I and my co-student teachers went to our cooperating school to
formally
start teaching. We met Mrs. Mercelita Javier who is the head teacher of Gov. Ferrer Mem. Nat’l High
School-Annex. I was assigned to the English Teacher, Ms. Katherine Quietson. She told me that the
subject that I will be teaching is English for third year high school students. She said that the third
year is still taught using the BEC curriculum. She added the scheme of teaching is through a logical
arrangement of learning competencies such as listening, reading, grammar, literature, and writing
which comprised the five days of the week. Aside from that, she informed me of the methods that I
should be using and that she wanted to see me prepare a lot of activities for the students. About
classroom management, she told me to be familiar with the school policies and act like a real
teacher in front of my would-be students. I was asked to prepare the lesson for the next day.

students since according to her, they were the kind of students who need stiff discipline. I spent my
remaining time finalizing my lesson and right after I arrived at the house I prepared my materials to
be used for the next day. I prepared visual aids and drew some pictures for my lesson. It was a very
long day for me probably because this was my first day in actual teaching. It was hard but I hope it
